A RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE OPEN HOUSE
INAUGURAL rO BE CONDUCTED BY SER JOBS FOR
PROGRESS, INC. TO BE HELD JANUARY 21, 1988
PROVIDING FOR THE CLOSURE OF DESIGNATED
STREETS TO THROUGH VEHICULAR TRAFFIC
ESTABLISHING A PEDESTRIAN MALL SUBJECT TO THE
ISSUANCE OF PERMITS BY THE DEPARTMENTS OF
POLICE AND FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION
SERVICES AND THE REQUIREMENT THAT THE CITY BE
INSURED AGAINST ANY POTENTIAL LIABILITY;
CONDITIONED UPON THE ORGANIZERS PAYING FOR
THE NECESSARY COST OF CITY SERVICES
ASSOCIATED WITH SAID EVENT.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. In order to effectuate safe passage and
establish a temporary pedestrian mall during Open House Inaugural
to be conducted by SER Jobs for Progress, Inc. the following
streets are hereby closed to through vehicular traffic from 3:00
P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on January 21, 1988 as specified below:
N.W. 9th Street from N.W. 27 Avenue to N.W. 27 Court
Included in the herein closure are all streets,
avenues, alleys, ways and thoroughfares which intersect
the enumerated areas delineated in this Section.
Section 2. Such closing of streets is subject to State
approval and the issuance of permits by the Departments of Police
and Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services. Said permit from the
Department of Police is to be issued upon full approval of the
Chief of Police after giving all due consideration to the safety
and traffic needs of residents, businesses, and religious
institutions in the area for entering and crossing through said
arterials and upon the favorable exercise of the City Manager's
judgement predicated upon all factors set forth herein.
Section 3. Such closing of streets is hereby conditioned
upon the organizers obtaining insurance requirements as mandated

by the City of Miami and paying for all costs of City services
associated with said event.

N.W. 9th Street between NW 27 Avenue and 27 Court and to
provide two uniformed police officers between 4:00 - 7:00
p.m. Over 150 persons are expected to attend this cvcnt.
As such, granting this request will facilitate off street
parking to reduce any inconveniences to the local residents
and avoid traffic congestion at this already busy
intersection.
