RESOLUTION NO. 97-1-093
A RESOLUTION CONCERNING A 5K RUN TO BE
CONDUCTED BY THE ALLAPATTAH BUSINESS
DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY, INC. ON DECEMBER 12,
1987� PROVIDING FOR THE CLOSURE OF DESIGNATED
STREETS TO THROUGH VEHICULAR TRAFFIC; SUBJECT
TO THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS BY THE DEPARTMENTS
OF POLICE AND FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION
SERVICES; CONDITIONED UPON THE REQUIREMENT
THAT THE CITY WILL BE INSURED AGAINST ANY
POTENTIAL LIABILITY AND UPON THE ORGANIZERS
PAYING FOR ANY NECESSARY COSTS OF CITY
SERVICES ASSOCIATED WITH SAID EVENT.
WHEREAS, the Allapattah Business Development Authority,
Inc. will conduct a 5K Run on December 12, 1987 in connection
with the II Allapattah Fair to be held December 11-13, 1987; and
WHEREAS, certain streets must be closed to through
vehicular traffic during specified dates and hours to insure the
safety of participants and pedestrians attending this event;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. In order to effectuate safe passage and
establish a temporary pedestrian mall during the 5K Run to be
conducted by the Allapattah Business Development Authority, Inc.
the following streets are hereby closed to through vehicular
traffic from 7:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on December 12, 1987 as
specified below:
N.W. 18 Terrace from N.W. 24 Avenue to N.W. N. River Drive
N.W. 13 Avenue from N.W. N. River Drive to N.W. 14 Street
N.W. 14 Street from N.W. 13 Avenue to N.W. 14 Avenue
N.W. 14 Avenue from N.W. 14 Street to N.W. N. River Drive
N.W. N. River Drive from N.W. 14 Street to Curtis Park Pool
Included in the herein closure are all streets,
avenues, alleys, ways and thoroughfares which
intersect the enumerated areas delineated in this
Section.

Section 2. Such closing of streets is subject to State
approval and issuance of permits by the Departments of Police and
Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services. Said permit from the
Department of Police is to be issued upon full approval of the
Chief of Police after giving all due consideration to the safety
and traffic needs of residents, businesses, and religious
institutions in the area for entering and crossing through said
arterials and upon the favorable exercise of the City Manager's
judgement predicated upon all factors set forth herein.
Section 3. Such closing is hereby subject to the organizers
obtaining insurance requirements as mandated by the City of Miami
and paying for any necessary costs of City services.

Allapattah 5K Run

It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the
attached 'resolution authorizing the closure of certain streets in
connection with the 5K Run to be held December 12, 1987, subject to
the issuance of permits by the Departments of Police and Fire,
Rescue and Inspection Services and the requirement that the City be
insured against any potential liability. This street closure is
conditioned upon the organizers paying for the cost of all
necessary City services.
BACKGROUND:
The Department of Community Development has prepared the
appropriate legislation for the street closures in connection with
the 5K Run to be conducted by Allapattah Business Development
Authority, Inc. on Saturday, December 12, 1987. The Allapattah
Business Development Authority is conducting the 5K Run in
connection with the II Annual Allapattah Fair to be held December
11-13, 1987.
