AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 90. 0500, AS AMENDED, THE ZONING ORDINARCE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, SECTION 2003.9 TEMPORARY SPECIAL EVENTS SPECIAL PERMITS, BY REPEALING EXISTING SUBSECTIONS 2006,911 THROUGH 2003,0.6 OF SAID SECTION AND SUBSTITUTING THEREFOR CONDITIONS AND LIMITATIONS, AS TO SPECIFIED PUBLIC FACILITIES: ORANGE BOWL, BICENTENNIAL PARK AND BOBBY MADURO MIAMI BASEBALL STADIUM AND THEIR PARKING LOTS IN REGARD TO THE NUMBER OF EVENTS ANNUALLY AND PROVIDING FOR NOTIFICATION TO ADJACENT PROPERTY OWNERS, CONTAINING A REPEALER PROVISION AND A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE. Section 1. Ordinance No. 9500, as amended, the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Miami, Florida, is hereby amended in the following respect:l/ Sec. 2003.9. Temporary special events; special permits (Existing Subsections 2003.9.1 through 2003.9.6 are deleted). Where a temporary carnival, festival fair or similar type event is permissible on privately owned or City owned land by a Class e special permit the following conditions and limitations apply• (a) Temporary events which include mechanical rides are generally permissible only on Thursdays Fridays Saturdays and Sundays and/or legal holidays, unless other days are approved by the City Commission, Otherwise on all other days, these events shall be permitted only at Watson Island, Virginia Key and Bicentennial Park and the facilities and parking lots of Miami Marine Stadium. Orange Bowl Stadium and Bobby Maduro Miami Baseball Stadium, 1 Words and/or figures stricken through shall be deleted. BACKGROUND The Department of Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities has requested that certain special event restrictions on the use of the Orange Bowl park i ng 1 ots and other 1 ocati ons , be 1 i f ted, in view of the loss of revenue caused by the Dolphin's move. ANALYSIS This proposed amendment would: 1. Permit temporary special events, including mechanical rides, to be Felo in the Orange Bowls Bicentennial Park, ' and Bobby aF�uro Miami daseball Stadlum and their parking lots on weeK ays, in addition to o er ci y-ownedaci I i ties. 2. Permit temporary special events to be held at such public ace es as Watson Island, Virginia Key, an a the Orange Bowl, Bicentennial Park, Bobby Maduro Miami Baseball Stadium and Miami Marine Stadium and their parking lots up to 10 times per year. 3. At its meeting of June 17, 1987, the Planning Advisory Board adopted Resolution PAS 42-87, by a 5 to 2 vote, recommending approval of the above, subject to any exceptions to specific days to be approved by the City Commission. , At its meeting of July 23, 1987, the City Commissioh continued the above to its meeting of September 22, 1987.
