SUBJECT: Request for Community Development and/or Parks and Recreations and/or other department funds for advertising and promotion of show; Initial amount requested: 515,000.00 Dear Mr. Odios We hereby request that the foregoing subject/item be placed in the agenda for the next meeting of the City of Miami Commission which will be held on Thursday, February 18, 1988. This office represents Mr. Enrique A. Rogan, the principal officer of Rogan E.A. Corporation, and the editor and publisher of AUTOMUNDO magazine, the first and only Spanish language national and international publication which deals with news, events, and matters of interests to the public concerning the automotive industry in general. - Rogan E.A. Corporation has at present an agreement with the city for the use of the above facility during the stated dates when the First Annual EXOTIC AND SPORTS CAR SHOW will be held. Enclosed please find copy of letter from City Manager's Office referring to the agreement for the event. The event will = showcase the automotive industry's state of the art in exotic and sports cars from around the globe. The initial response from the potential show participants (manufacturers, dealers, etc.,) has been positive. Rogan E.A. Corporation and AUTOMUNDO plan to make the show an annual event which will be held at the Coconut Grove Exhibition Center each April. We sincerely believe that the show will bring positive media exposure to the City of Miami and generate interest to the public, whose attendance at the show will benefit the local com- - munity. We want to insure that the show's par- ticipants, exhibitors and attending public alike, get the best possible ,first impression. it is therefore crucial that the show be promoted and advertised and that its environment be visually and intellectually appealing. The city's financial assistance will help meet the costs asso- ciated with these important aspects of the show, whose initial and continued success are sure to enhance and benefit the character and economy of this dynamic city.
