A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE DONATION OF
SURPLUS FURNITURE ITEMS FROM SOUTHERN BELL
TO THE OVERTOWN COMMUNITY ACTIVISTS FOR
USE IN THE MIAMI POLICE DEPARTMENT/OVERTOWN
MINI STATION.
WHEREAS, the Miami Police Department has been offered as a
donation surplus furniture items from Southern Bell to the
Overtown Community Activists for use in the Miami Police
Department/Overtown Mini Station; and
WHEREAS, the Miami Police Department had a need for such
items due to the relocation of the mini station;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The donation of surplus furniture items from
Southern Bell to the Overtown Community Activists is hereby
accepted for use in the Miami Police Department/Overtown Mini
Station.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of February > 1988.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the
attached resolution to accept the donation of surplus furniture
items from Southern Bell through the Overtown Community
Activists.
BACKGROUND:
The Miami Police Department relocated the Overtown Mini Station
to 1490 N. W. 3rd Avenue. According to Mrs. Adker. Chairperson
of the Overtown Community Activists, the relocation of this mini
station was a Police/Community effort and the presentation of the
furniture was the organization's contribution. The Overtown
Community Activists in conjuction with the Department of General
Services Administration made the necessary arrangements and
acquired the surplus furniture items from Southern Bell.
