A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID OF CENTURY
INDUSTRIES, INC. FOR FURNISHING ONE (1)
MOBILE STAGE FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS,
RECREATION AND PUBLIC FACILITIES AT A TOTAL
PROPOSED COST OF $43,142.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS
THEREFOR FROM THE PRIOR YEAR RESERVE FUND
ACCOUNT CODE #490301-907 ($41,000.00) AND
1987-88 OPERATING BUDGET ACCOUNT CODE NO.
580301- 840 $2,142.00); AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE CHIEF PROCUREMENT
OFFICER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS
EQUIPMENT.
WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were
received October 7, 1987 for furnishing one (1) mobile stage to
be used to replace existing showmobile which is 15 years old and
in constant need for repairs for the Department of Parks,
Recreation and Public Facilities; and
WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to twenty eight (28)
potential suppliers and one (1) bid was received; and
WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the Prior
Year Reserve Fund Account Code No. 490301-907 ($41,000.00) and
1987-88 Operating Budget Account Code No. 580301-840 ($2,142.00);
and
WHEREAS, the existing showmobile is used extensively for
special events, programs and ceremonies despite its own
appearance and constant need for repairs; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department
of Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities recommend that the bid
received from Century Industries, Inc. be accepted as the only
responsible and responsive bid;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The October 7, 1987 bid of Century Industries,
Inc. for furnishing one (1) Mobile Stage to the Department of
Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities at a total proposed cost
.of $43,142.00 is hereby accepted with funds therefor hereby
allocated in the Prior Year Reserve Fund Account Code No. 490301-
907 ($41,000.00) and 1987-88 Operating Budget Account Code No.

(a) Authority and raguirenent to debar and cushend:
After reasonable notice to an actual or prospective contractual party,
and after reasonable opportunity to such party to he heard, the city
nanagor, after consultation with the chief procurement officer and the
city attorney, shall have the authority to debar a contractual party
for the causes listed below from consideration for ward of .city

Recommendation:
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the
attached resolution accepting the complete and responsive bid of
Century Industries, Inc., a non -minority vendor and only bidder
in accord with Bid No. 86-87-114, for the furnishing of one (1)
Mobile Stage with acoustic enclosure, at a total cost of $43,142.
Such funds are available in the Prior Year Reserve Fund in the
amount of $41,000 (Recreation Division FY'86-87 account No.
490301-907) and the current Recreation Division budget in the
amount of $2,142. (account No. 580301-840) of the Department of
Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities.
Background:
The Department of Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities has
analyzed the only bid received pursuant to Bid No. 86-87-114 to
furnish a new "showmobile" (mobile stage with acoustic
enclosure). The bid of Century Industries, Inc., a non -minority
firm, was found to be complete and responsive, and is recommended
for award. The equipment is vitally needed to replace the
existing showmobile, which was purchased approximately 15 years
ago and is used extensively for special events, programs and
ceremonies despite its worn appearance and constant need for
repairs. Funds for the purchase are available as indicated
below.
