Knight Center, 400 SE 2nd Avenue. The purpose of the awards presentation is to pay tribute and honor our pioneers and achievers of the Caribbean region and America, who have con- tributed to the betterment of the World's order. The ceremony will feature awards of merit in the following categories: 1. Legal Profession 2. Travel and Tourism 3. Medical Profession 4. Sports 5. Entertainment Industry 6. Arts and Culture 7. Cosmetology Industry 8. Fashion Industry 9. Promotions _ 10. Banking and Finance 11. Business Industry 12. Import/Export 13. Meeia (including television, print and radio) 14. Education 15. Politics and Public Service 16. Humanitarian 17. Religion 18. Merchandising 19. Organizations making outstanding contribution in the Caribbean and American cam unity, in Florida. Science The pu posefir which the organization was established, are exclu- sively charitable and educational. The ultimate objective of the organization is to establish: * W. E. B. Dubois - C. L. R. James Scholarship Fund U.S.A. in Dade County * Project Caribbean -American Cultural Center U.S.A. in Dade County * Caribbean American Hall of Fame U.S.A. in Dade County The organization, in order to carry out its objectives, is seeking a grant of $18,000.00 from the City. The funds sought, will be used to defray part of the expenses incurred in the production of the event. See proposed budget attached. The proposal to the City Manager and Commissioners, it is hoped, will allow the Caribbean American Awards of Excellence organization to adequately meet its goals and objectives, relative to adding a new dimension to the cultural and educational en- richment of this multi -ethnic society. It is also envisioned that the Caribbean American Awards of Excellence will became a focal point in the co munity, fostering a spirit of co- hesion between different ethnic and racial groups. The organization will endeavor, always, through its lifespan, to promote the concept of unity as a major requirement for economic, cultural and political development.
