REFERENCES
ENCLOSURES
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the
attached resolution authorizing the acquisition, by lease, of
seventy (70) new replacement electric golf cars for Melreese Golf
Course from E-Z-Go, Division of Textron, the vendor submitting
the lowest, complete and acceptable bid pursuant to Bid No. 86-
87-124, at a per unit cost of $2.32 per day and a total fleet
cost of $58,548 annually. It is further recommended that the
City Manager be authorized to execute a lease agreement, in
substantially the form attached, as approved by the Law
Department, for a one (1) year period with the option to renew
for four (4) additional one-year periods, subject to the
availability of funds.
BACKGROUND
The Department of Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities has
determined that the present conditions of electric cars at the
Melreese Golf Course have deteriorated to the point that they are
below acceptable standards and should not be retained through the
existing contract, which expires April 18, 1989. This is largely
due to the necessary daily towing to a distant storage area and
to the present disrepair of cart paths. Both situations are in
the process of being corrected.
E-Z-Go has agreed to an early termination of the existing
contract with no penalty to the City. Upon approval, the present
contract will be terminated on March 31, 1988, with the new
contract commencing on April 1, 1988. Funds currently encumbered
for the existing contract will be transferred to cover the cost
of the replacement units.
Pursuant to bid No. 86-87-124, the City Commission authorized the
lease of seventy (70) new electric cars for the Miami Springs
Golf Course, by Resolution No. 86-1075, adopted December 10,
1987. As provided in the bid regulations, the City may acquire

additional unit* or fleets under the same prices, terms, and
conditions. This not only provides for expeditious acquisition,
but allows for considerable administrative cost savings in not
having to re -bid. it is estimated that this fleet will generate
an excess of $135,000 in profits annually, as well as maintain
standards in keeping with the stature and reputation of the
Melreese facility.
