MCKPOUN0 INFORMATION
Much has been written and said about the negative aspects of Miami and
Dade County. We have our problems, but we also have many positive things
taking place within this community. One of our well kept secrets has been
the activities of Florene Litthcut Nichol's Inner City Children's Touring
Dance Company (ICCTDC), which has provided more than two thousand (2,000)
children the opportunity to develop their creative talents and skills in
dance.
The school, which -is based in Liberty City on 7th Avenue, is designed
expressly for children three (3) years through fourteen (14) years of age who
come from disadvantaged backgrounds and from low to moderate income families.
Our focus is to develop respect, pride, confidence, motivation and self esteem
for the youth of the Inner Citywhile teaching the rudiments and history of dance.
The ICCTDC was incorporated witn the State of Florida on August 5, 1980,
and is a non profit organization. Prior to its new name, ICGTCD was formerly
known as Nichols' Community of Performing Arts, which provided cultural programs
to the greater Miami area for more than eleven (11) years.
The work of the organization is guided by a Board of Directors and the
day to day operations are carried out by the company's talented and dedicated
\, Founder/Director, Florene Litthcut Nichols, with the support of an Administrative
Assi.stant, Ms. Jackie Coleman, and a professional teaching staff of seven (7)
The organization consists of a teaching school and a performing company
with an annual enrollment of two hundred (200) students. The touring company,
which is comprised of fifteen (15) to thirty (30) of the school's most talented

students, perform weekly before such groups ass The Greater
Miami Chamber of Commerce; Sun Street Festival; The Progressive
Fire Fighters; Cornucopia of the Arts: and the Miami Dade
Chamber of Commerce. Foreign dignitaries such as, the Ambassador
of Kenya and the Nigerian Consul have been delighted by their
performances. The performing company has also performed with
and for Lou Rawls, Ben Vereen and Mercer Ellington.
For the past three years, the organization has received funding
from the following governmental agencies:
*Metro Dade County Board of County Commissioners
*Dade County Council of Arts and Sciences (Neighborhood
Arts Grant and Cultural Development programs)
* Florida Department of State: Division of Cultural
Affairs (Expansion Arts, Salary Assistance,
Technical Assistance Grants, Folk Art, Dance and
International Cultural Exchange)
* City of Miami
* National Endowment for the Arts
The company matches its grants with tuitions, admisci--nz,
contracted performances and student/parent fund raising activities.
Financial and in -kind support from foundations, corporations and
the private sector, make it possible to keep tuitions affordable
and provide scholarships for children of needy families to
participate in the program.
The youth of the Inner City are also a part of the future.
We strongly believe the Inner City Children's Touring Dance Co.,
(ICCTDC), is a key contributor to improving the quality of life
in Dade County.

To whom it may Concern:
I have visited The Inner City Children's Touring Dance Co., and
I was very impressed with the work being done there. The school
reaches out into the community and utilizes the young talents in
the inner cities.
I would encourage any help that can be given to the school that
support their various projects; bringing in master teachers,
quest choreographers, and The Performing Arts Summer Camp which
helps develope these young artists and prepare them for talent
programs in the upper levels.
Any financial support given to The Inner City Children's Touring
Dance Co., will be well spent and will only help nurture young
underprivileged artists.
Sincerely,

The Performing Arts Summer Camp (PASQ,
sponsored by The InrwrCity Children's 'louring
Dance Co., is an exciting opportunity to educate
inner city youths in the "arming Arts. PIr itl-
pants will be exposed to the type of artistic and
cultural activities that they normally would never
have a chance to experience.
The program is designed expressly for chil-
dren aged five years through 14 years of age who
come red
disadvantaged [sac kgruuncds and pooch
low to moderate intone families. It will focus on
developing confidence, respect, motivation and
self esteem for children of the inner city.
The PASC begins on June 23, 1986 and runs
through August 1. The program will include exhi-
bitions and instruction in Classical Ballet, Tap,
African Dance, Modern Dance and Dance
History.
VOW Supporl is Important. The success of PASC
depends largely on your participation. Your spon-
sorship of a child in the program will ggffve that
child the opportunity of spending muc h oef the
1986 Summer studying the Arts. For perhaps the
first time, the participants will be exposed to
activities which help develop many of the skills
and character traits enabling the child to contrib-
ute as a community leader of tomorrow.
makhing funds
We are already grateful to The Dade Fount4iti on
and to W. R. and E. B. Thompson Memo►nal Fund
kr their generous pledge of S5,000 in matching
funds for the PASC program.
Now, however, we treed sponsors io r children
who have the desire to study and leam about the
Performing Arts. Your gift of $100 wig assure that
one child will be able to parto ipate in the pro-
gram. gram. Your contributions are tax deductible but,
even more, they will assure a wonderful cultural
opportunity.
