A RESOLUTION, RY A 4/5THS AFFIRMATIVE VOTE OF THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COMMISSiON AFTER A DULY ADVERTISED PU�-ILIC HEARING, RATIFYING THE CITY MANAGER'S FINDING OF SOLE SOURCE; WAIVING THE RE�UIREMF,NTS FOR COMPETITIVE SEALED BIDS AND APPROVING THE ACQUISITION OF TWENTY FOUR (24) PORTABLE 6-SJBFLEET 600 MHZ TRUNKED RADIOS AND BATTERY CHARGERS FROM MOTOROLA, COMMUNICATIONS & FLSCTRONICS, INC. AT THE PROPOSED COSC OF $43,000.00 FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS, RECREATION AND PUNLIC FACILITIES; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE 1988 OPERATING BUDGET ACCOUNT CODE NOS. 580303-840 ($10,800.00) 580301-840 ($6,000.00) 580402-840 ($19,000.00) 580403- 840 ($3,600.00) 580407-840 ($3,600.00); AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS EQUIPMENT. WHEREAS, these 800 MHz radios are to be used in the operation of the City Stadiums, Coconut Grove Exhibition Center, Virainia Key Beach and in City Parks; and WHEREAS, Motorola Communications and Electronics, Inc. has been found to be the sole source of radios which can interface with the City's existinq 800 MHz smart net trunking radio system; and WHEREAS, funds for this service are available in the Department of Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities 1987-88 Operating Budget Account Nos. 580303-840 ($10,800.00) 580301-840 ($6,000.00) 580402-840 ($19,000.00) 580403-840 ($3,600.00) 580407-840 ($3,600.00); and WHEREAS, the Chief_ Procurement officer has adopted a finding wherein that Motorola Communications & Electronics, Inc. is the sole source to provide this equipment; and WHEREAS, the findings of the Chief Procurement Officer have been approved and adopted as the finding of the City Manager; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities recommend that the requirement for competitive formal sealed bids be waived and the procurement from Motorola Communications & Electronics, Inc. as the sole source, be approved; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF APR 14 1988 w IN No. �� w Section 1. 9y an affirmative vote of 4/511-hs of the Members of the City Commission, after a duly advertised public hearing, the City Manaoer's written finding that Motorola Communications 6 Electronics, Inc. is the Sole Source of supply to the City for the acquisition of twenty four (24) 800 MHz tr;jnkpd radios with 6 subfleet capacity and battery charges for the Department of Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities is hereby ratified. Section 2. the reauirement for competitive sealed bids is hereby waived and the Department of Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities acquisition of twenty four (24) 800 MHz trunked radios with 6 subfleet capacity and battery charges for use in the operations of. City Stadiums, Coconut Grove Exhibition Center, Virginia Key Beach and City parks at the proposed amount of $43,000.00 is hereby approved with funds therefor hereby allocated from the Department of Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities 1987-88 Operating Budget Account Nos. 580303-840 ($10,800.00) 580301-840 ($6,000.00) 580402-840 ($19,000.00) 580403-840 ($3,600.00) 580407-840 ($3,600.00). Odio City Manager RECOMMENDATION: DAtt MAP. 3 1 1988 4"Lt SU*jtCt Resolution Authorizing Waiver of Sealed Bids for Purchase of 800 AERERENC91MHz Trunked Radios ENCLOSURES It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution authorizing the waiver of the requirements for obtaining sealed bids for the procurement of twenty-four (24) portable 6-subfleet 800 MHz trunked radios and battery chargers from Motorola Communications and Electronics, Inc., at a proposed cost of $43,000. BACKGROUND: The Department of Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities is requesting approval for the procurement of twenty-four (24) portable smart net dynamic regroupable auto identifying 800 MHz trunked radios with 6-subfleet capacity and battery chargers from Motorola Communications and Electronics, Inc., for use in the operation of City Stadiums, Coconut Grove Exhibition Center, Virginia Key Beach and in City parks. Motorola Communications and Electronics, Inc., has been found to be Lice 3f radios which can interface with the City's existing 800 MHz smart net trunking radio system which was purchased from said vendor several years ago.
