FOR FURNISHING PORTABLE TOILETS AND SHOWER FOR VIRGINIA KEY BEACH FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS, RECREATION AND PUBLIC FACILITIES ON A CONTRACT BASIS FOR ONE, (1) YEAR WITH THE OPTION TO RENEW FOR ONE (1) ADDITIONAL ONE YEAR PERIOD A TOTAL PROPOSED FIRST YEAR COST OF $25,655.55; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE 1988 JENERAL FUND ACCOUNT CODE #580303-340; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS SERVICE; AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXTEND FOR ONE (1) ADDITIONAL ONE YEAR PERIOD UNDER THE SAME PRICES, TERMS AND CONDITIONS; SUBJECT TO THE AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS. WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received February 8, 1988 for the Rental of Portable Toilets and Shower for Virginia Key Beach on a contract basis for one (1) year with the option to renew for one (1) additional one year period to the Department of Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to seven (7) potential suppliers and one (1) bid was received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase will be available from the 1988 General Fund Account Code #580303-340; and WHEREAS, this service will be used by the Department of Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities for the purpose of providing toilet and shower facilities to the park patrons; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities recommend that the bid received from Able Sanitation, Inc. be accepted as the only responsible and responsive bid; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The February 8, 1988 bid of Able Sanitation, Inc. for the rental of toilets and shower on a contract basis for one (1) year with the option to renew for an additional one year period to the Department of Parks, Recreation and Public CITY COMMISSION MEETING Of APR 14 1988 SOLUTION No. 98_319 MARKS Facilities at a total proposed first year cost of $25#655.55 is hereby accepted with funds therefor hereby allocated from the 1988 General Fund Account Code #580303-340. Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to instruct the Chief Procurement officer to issue a Purchase Order for this service, and further authorizing the City Manager to extend for one (1) additional one year period under the same prices, terms and conditions; subject to the availability of funds. REFERENCES ENCLOSURES E Resolution Authorizing Award of Bid # 87-88-041 - Rental of Portable Toilets for Virginia Key It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution awarding a bid for the rental of portable toilets and shower from Able Sanitation, Inc., the vendor submitting the lowest, complete, and acceptable bid, for use at Virginia Key Beach. These units, fifteen (15) portable toilets, three (3) handicapped johns, and one (1) portable shower shall be rented for a one-year period at a cost of $25,655.55 ($1,115 per month including twice a week service; and $2,868.55 per month, with seven day service). Of the twenty-one (21) potential bidders notified, one (1) bid and two (2) no bids were received. Funds are available in the 1987-88 General Fund Budget for the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Public Facilities - Virginia Key Beach. BACKGROUND: The Department of Parks, Recreation, and Public Facilities has analyzed the bids received pursuant to Bid #87-88-041 for the rental of portable toilets and shower for use at Virginia Key Beach. in evaluation of the single bid, we have found it to be reasonable in cost, as well as in compliance with specifications. These units are necessary in that there are no permanent facilities to service the park patrons.
