HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-88-0435J-88-401 5/12/88 RESOLUTION NO. A RESOLUTION FIXING AND ESTABLISHING THE SALARY AND COMPENSATION OF JORGE L. FERNANDEZ, WHO WILL SERVE AS CITY ATTORNEY OF THE CITY OF MIAMI COMMENCING 9:00 A.M. ON JUNE 6, 1988. WHEREAS, on April 28, 1988, the City Commission, by Resolution No. 88-369, appointed Deputy City Attorney Jorge L. Fernandez as City Attorney, with said appointment becoming effective at 9:00 A.M. on the date the incumbent City Attorney leaves office; and WHEREAS, Lucia A. Dougherty, the present City Attorney, has indicated she will leave her position on June 6, 1988, but will be on vacation from May 20, 1988 until her departure from office and has designated Jorge L. Fernandez to serve as Acting City Attorney during the period of her vacation; and WHEREAS, it is anticipated that Jorge L. Fernandez will be administered his oath of office at the City Commission Meeting of May 19, 1988 prior to commencing the duties of City Attorney on June 6, 1988; and WHEREAS, the City Commission deems it appropriate at this time to delineate herein the benefits which will accrue to Jorge L. Fernandez as City Attorney; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Jorge L. Fernandez shall be paid an annual salary of Ninety-two Thousand Dollars ($92,000). He shall also receive $2,500 per year as a discretionary expense account. All business -related travel expenses including subsistence shall be paid by the City in addition to the above. Section 2. Jorge L. Fernandez shall be entitled to 30 working days vacation per year which may be accumulated year to year. Also he is entitled to the same number of days of sick leave as all other City employees. The City shall pay annual membership costs as well as initiation fees for such professional associations and in one luncheon club to be selected by Jorge L. Fernandez. Section 4. The City shall lease for Jorge L. Fernandez an American -made full size automobile and pay the cost of liability, property damage, comprehensive insurance, gas and maintenance for his unrestricted use of said vehicle. Section 8. The City shall provide and pay for a term life insurance policy, and a disability income insurance policy for Jorge L. Fernandez in accordance with the provisions of the Executive Benefit Plan afforded all City executive employees. Hospital, surgical and comprehensive medioal and dental insurance shall be provided for Jorge L. Fernandez and his dependents in accordance with the provisions of the Executive Benefit Plan afforded all City executive employees. Section 6. Jorge L. Fernandez may continue to participate as a member in the ICMA Deferred Compensation program to which the City shall contribute 8% of his salary and he shall contribute 10% of his salary. Section 7.
