A RESOLUTION APPOINTING CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS
TO THE CITY OF MIAMI COMMISSION ON THE STATUS
OF WOMEN TO SERVE INDEFINITE TERMS THEREON.
HE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The following individuals are hereby
appointed to the City of Miami Commission on the Status of Women
to serve indefinite terms thereon:

Attached for inclusion in the upcoming City Commission Agenda on
is the resolution authorizing the appointment of three individuals'to the City
of Miami Commission on the Status of Women. Included with the resolution are
the resumes of the prospective nominees.
A -mandated by Article I of Resolution 78-271, the Commission on the Status of
Women shall consist of twenty (20) members appointed by the City Commission. 4+'

dr. Lenore J. Gordon received her early education in ansas
City# Missouri graduating from the University of Missouri at K.C.
in 1968 with a BA in Speech Education. in 1911 she earned a MA in
Speech Education with etrphasis in Public Address and in 1973 a
second MA in Reading Education. Upon moving to Miami she entered
the University of Miami as a doctoral candidate earning her
terminal degree in Curriculum, Supervision and Instruction in
1980.
Throughout her professional career she has held the position
of Speech, English and Reading Specialist at both elementary and
secondary levels of education. She also held the position of
Learning Disability Consultant at the saute two levels. At the
University level, she has taught courses in Public Address,
Intercultural Communication. Speech Communication, Interpersonal
Communication, Children"s Theater, Creative Drama, Theories of
Speech Communication and conducted seminars for teacher training.
Dr. Gordon has served as Speech, English and Reading Specialist in
both Upward Bcund and CETA federally founded summer programs.
Since earning her doctorate in 1980, she has served as
Adjunct professor at the University of Miami's School of
Communication. She is also a consultant for the Institute of
Culture and Ethnicity at the MDCC-Wolfson campus. Since 1981 Dr.
Gordon has consulted with clients on a one-to-one basis, or in
groups conducting seminars and workshops for a diverse private and
public sectors. Her clients have included American Express, i
Levitt Corporation, MDCC and Greater Mortgage Corporation of
Florida..
Dr. Gordon has written, presented and published research at
regional and national conventions in the areas of Intercultural,
Organizational, Interpersonal Communication. She is a published
poet. Her ncn-fiction free-lance writing has been in the areas of
business, travel, psychology, Black History and children. She is
presently at work on both an Intercultural Communication textbook
and a children"s book about genetics.
As an independent TV producer and talk show host, her credits
include the following productions; WORLD OF MCRTGAGE BANKING;
INSIDE SPECTRUM:TREATING SUBSTANCE ABUSE; THERE IS DEFINITELY NO
TYPICAL PERSON; BLACK ARTISTS FORUM I & II; WORLD OF
COMMUNICATION; MIAMI COMMUNICATES!; EXPAND YOUR UNIVERSE and
ongoing productions FOR PEOPLE WITH POTENTIAL, and LEGACY which
air on WLRN Cable TAP and ARTS IN FOCUS which airs on WLRN PBS
Channel 17. Her latest documentary for PBS is HAPPY BIRTHDAY
DIZZY. Dr. Gordon serves on several advisory boards for the Visual
and Performing Arts.
