HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-88-0538J=88-552 06/01/88 RESOLUTION NO.��� A RESOLUTION ALLOCATING $21,804 OF FOURTEENTH YEAR COMMUNITY DLVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDS PREVIOUSLY APPROPRIATED BY ORDINANCE NO. 10436, ADOPTED MAY 12, 1988, TO CAREY TECHNICAL INSTITUTE, INC. FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING A JOB DEVELOPMENT/PLACEMENT PROJECT FOR CITY RES1DENTS; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENT WITH SAID AGENCY FOR SAID PROJECT, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. $21,804 of Fourteenth Year Community Development - Block Grant_ funds, previously appropriated by Ordinance No. 10436 adopted May 12, 1988, are hereby al.l.ocated to Carey Technical. Institute, Inc. to provide a job development/placement project for City residents. SECTION 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into agreement, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, with the aforementioned agency to implement i.ts job development/placement project for City residents, subject to the conditions and limitations contained herein and in the City Code. Od].b REFERENCES City Manager ENCLOSURES RECOMMENDATION It is respectfully recommended that the City Commi.ssi.on adopt the attached resolution which allocates $21,804 of 14th Year Community Development. Block Grant Funds to Carey Technical Institute, Inc. to provide a job development/placement project for City residents and authorizes the City Manager to enter into agreement with this agency in a form acceptable to the City Attorney. BACKGROUND The Department of Community Development has submi.tt.ed the Final Statement of Community Development Objectives and Projected Use of Funds for the 14th Year to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. This statement, which was approved by the ('nmmi,—ion a+ itg meeting of May 12, 1988, included an allocation of $21,804 to Carey Technical Institute, Inc. to provide a job development/placement project for City residents. Adoption of the proposed resolution effectuates the City Commission's intent to allocate $21,804 of 14th Year Community Development Block Grant Funds to Carey Technical Institute, Inc. and authorizes the City Manager to enter into agreement with this agency. 63 _/ , NB--538
