A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF
THREE (3) PUMPER APPARATUS, ONE M- QUINT
APPARATUS, RELATED FIREFIGHTING 'POOLS AND
EQUIPMENT AND MISCELLANEOUS VEHICLE SPARE
PARTS UNDER AN EXISTING DADE COUNTY BID N0.
176-37 FROM YOUNG TECHNOLOGIES GROUP, INC.
FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE, RESCUE, AND
INSPECTION SERVICES AT A TOTAL PROPOSED COST
OF $1,168,156.70; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR
FROM THE FY 88 FIRE BOND ACCOUNTS NO. 313223-
289401-840 ($1,119,167.00) AND NO. 313222-
28940-840 t(�48,989.70); AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE CHIEF PROCUREMENT
OFFICER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS
EQUIPMENT.
WHEREAS, the Department of Fire, Rescue and Inspection
Services wishes to purchase three (3) Pumper Apparatus, one (1)
Quint Apparatus, Related Firefighting Tools & Equipment and
Miscellaneous Vehicle Spare Parts available under Dade County Bid
No. 176-37 from Young Technologies Group, Inc. of Lancaster, New
York at a total proposed amount of $1,168,156.70; and
WHEREAS, the purchase of this equipment is part of the
ongoing Apparatus Replacement/Refurbishing Program of the
Department of Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services; and
WHEREAS, the apparatus and equipment specifications were a
co -development project of both Dade County Fire Rescue and the
City of Miami, the Purchase coupled with the large Dade County
order (16 pumps) allowing capitalization the economy of
scale from an overall large order to the same vendor for the same
product; and
WHEREAS, funds for this purchase will be available from the
FY 88 Fire Bond Accounts No. 313223-289401-840 ($1,119,167.00)
and No. 313222-289401-840 ($48,989.70); and
WHEREAS, these new apparatus will allow us to eventually
retire four (4) of our older like apparatus; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department
of Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services recommend that the
purchase of said equipment from Young Technology Group, Inc. be
approved

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY -THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The purchase of three (3) pumper Apparatus, One
(1) Quint Apparatus, Related Firefighting Tools & Equipment and
Miscellaneous Vehicle Spare Parts under an existing Dade County
Bid from Young Technologies Group, Inc. at a total proposed cost
of $1,168,156.70 is hereby approved with funds therefor allocated
from the FY 88 Fire Bond Accounts No. 313223-289401-840
($1,168,156.70) and No. 313222-289401-840 ($48,989,70).
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
instruct the Chief Procurement Officer to issue a purchase order
for this equipment.

ENCLOSURES.
It is recommended that a Resolution be passed permitting the City of Miami to pur-
chase three (3) Pumper Apparatus, one (1) Quint Apparatus, Related Firefighting
Tools and Equipment c-.nd Miscellaneous Spare Vehicle Parts off of Dade County Bid
No. 176-37 (Vendor: Young Technologies Group, Inc., of Lancaster, New York) at a
one-time cost not to exceed $1,168,156.70.
BACKGROUND
The purchase of these four (4) apparatus and related equipment is part of the on-
going Apparatus Replacement/Refurbishment Program of the Department of Fire, Res-
cue and Inspection Services. Although this request is to purchase off the Dade
County Contract, the Apparatus and Equipment Specifications were a co -development
project of both Dade County Fire Rescue and the City of Miami. Our purchase cou-
pled with the iarge Ddde County order (16 Pumpers) will allow us to capitalize on
the economy of scale from an overall large order to the same vendor for the same
product. These new apparatus will allow us to eventually retire four (4) of our
older like apparatus.
