A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A DONATION VALUED AT
$10,000 OFFERED BY PROCTOR AND GAMBLE, INC.,
CREST BRAND DIVISION, TO SUPPORT THE 1988
CITY OF MIAMI/CREST YOUTH BASEBALL WORLD
SERIES, IN CONJUNCTl'ON WITH THE "PRIDE IN
MIAMI PARKS" ADOPT -A -PARK PROGRAM; FURTHER
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN
AGREEMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE FORM
ATTACHED, TO IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE OF SAID
DONATION.
WHEREAS, Proctor and Gamble, Inc•, Crest Brand Division has
committed themselves to participate in the City of Miami's "Pride
In Miami Parks" Adopt -A -Park Program by cooperatively sponsoring
the 1988 City of Miami/Crest Youth Baseball World Series to be
held at Bobby Maduro Stadium on July 11-17, 1988; and
WHEREAS, this is the seventh year of this wholesome
international sports activity which brings youth from all over
the world to Miami in the spirit of camaraderie and
sportsmanship; and
WHEREAS, this corporate support will assist in offsetting
expenses in the amount of $10,000 while enhancing the quality of
the 1988 Youth Baseball World Series; and
WHEREAS, this donation is in full agreement with the Adopt-
A -Park philosophy expressed by the Members of the City
Commission; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager has expressed his endorsement of
this cooperative effort; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The donation valued at $10,000 from Proctor and
Gamble, Inca, Crest Brand Division, in support the 1988 City of
Miami/Crest Youth Baseball World Series is hereby accepted, in
accordance with the "Pride in Miami Parks" Adopt -A -Park Program.

Dear Mr. Stark:
On behalf of the City of Miami and more importantly the citizens
we serve I would like to take this opportunity to thank Procter
and Gamble/Crest Brand for your commitment to participate in the
"Pride In Miami Parks" Adopt -A -Park program.
It is my understanding that your representatives have met with
Mr. Juan Pascual and Mr. Kevin Smith of the Department of Parks,
Recreation and Public Facilities on a numerous of occasions to
discuss Procter and Gamble's involvement in the program. The
following is a conceptual proposal to Procter and Gamble,/Crest
Brand based on these meetings.
PROPOSAL
A) The Procter and Gamble Distributing CU1111AILly/Crlei L F,rat,u ..ill
be the exclusive cosponsor of the Seventh Annual City of
Miami -Crest Youth Baseball World Series to be held July 11-
17, 1988 at the Bobby Maduro Miami Stadium.
B) Procter and Gamble/Crest Brand will be mentioned as the sole
cosponsor in all radio, television and newspaper press
releases prepared by the City and Mass. Inc. concerning this
event.
C) The City of Miami will honor various forms of stadium
admission waivers designed by Proctor and Gamble in relation
to the series such as proof of purchase labels from a Crest
Product guaranteeing a free admission. These are to be
agreed upon in advance by all parties involved.

D) Representatives of the Procter and Gamble Distributing
Company will be honored and recognized through a formal
presentation at a City of Miami Commission Meeting for their
participation in the "Pride In Miami Parks" Adopt -A -Park
Program.
In consideration of the above The Procter and Gamble Distributing
Company representing Crest Brand agrees to the following:
A) To enlist the assistance and support .of Mass., Inc. (Market-
ing Advertising and Sales Services, Inc.) at no cost to the
City of Miami to cooperatively develop and implement a
promotional program designed to effectively inform the
general public of the Seventh Annual City of Miami/Crest
Youth Baseball World Series. This may include in-store point
of purchase promotions, radio, television and newspaper
spots, banners, event programs etc. The City shall maintain
the right to review and approve the art work and materials
prior to production and/or distribution.
B) Provided a company check in the amount of $10,000 or a
verification of paid invoices valued at $10,000 for expenses
directly related to the Seventh Annual Youth Baseball World
Series. Specifically, housing and meal expenses for the
youth participating in the tournament. This donation will be
accepted and acknowledged as a contribution to the City of
Miami's "Pride In Miami Parks" Adopt -A -Park Program.
C) Provide, if necessary, product and liability insurances
naming the City of Miami as a coinsured at limits acceptable
to the Law Department and General Services Administration's
Risk Management Division.
If you agree with the proposed program please sign and return the
attached copy.
The City of Miami is pleased that The Procter and Gamble
Distributing Company representing Crest Brand has decided to par-
ticipate in the "Pride In Miami Parks" Adopt -A -Park program and
we look forward to successful working relations with your
company.

It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the
attached resolution accepting a donation valued at.$10,000 from
Procter and Gamble, Inc., Crest Brand Division, in conjunction
with the "Pride in Miami Parks" Adopt -A -Park Program to be used
for the 1988 Youth Baseball World Series, further authorizing the
City Manager to execute an agreement to implement the acceptance
of this donation.
BACKGROUND:
The Department of Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities has
prepared the attached legislation concerning the acceptance of a
donation from Procter and Gamble to cooperatively support the
1988 City of Miami/Crest Youth Baseball World Series.
The total estimated value of this donatit�n is approximately
$10,000 comprised of housing and meal expenses for the
participating youth from several different countries while in
Miami July 11-17, 1988.
This is another successful corporate and City joint venture in
the City's "Pride in Miami Parks" Adopt -A -Park program that will
provide both the spectators and participating youth with an
exciting international sporting event while positively promoting
Miami.
