HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-88-06006-10-89 RESOLUTION NO. 89--60V A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A DONATION VALUED AT $13,700 OFFERED BY THE LAND AUTHORITY OF PUERTO RICO AND THEIR REPRESENTATIVE SORINQUEN PRODUCTS CORPORATION ON BEHALF OF LOTUS JUICES TO SUPPORT THE 19-88 CITY OF MIAMI/LOTUS JUICES SUMMER OLYMPICS IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE "PRIDE IN MIAMI PARKS" ADOPT -A -PARK PROGRAM; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT, SUBSTANTIALLY INCORPORATING THE TERMS AS SET FORTH 'IN THE ATTACHED CORRESPONDENCE, TO IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE OF SAID DONATION. The donation valued at $13j700 from The Land Authority of Puerto Rico and its representative Sori nquen Products Corporation on behalf of Lotus Juice to support the 1988 City of Miami/Lotus Juice Summer Olympic Games i.s hereby accepted, i.n accordance with the "Pride in Miami Parks" Adopt -A --Park Program. Section 2. The City Manager i.s hereby authorized to execute an agreement, substantially incorporati.ng the terms as set forth i.n the attached correspondence, to implement the acceptance of said donation. Based on above mentioned and your new proposal, Land Authority of Puerto i Rico and their representative, Borinquen Products Corporation reject the old offers and is please to give the new total support requested of $8,700 dollars, plus $5,000 on Lotus Pineapple Juice for the people participant on this events. Odi at FROM City Manager RECOMMENDATION: DATE J U L ., =0 v v 12y ]" FILE SUBJECT Resolution Accepting an Adopt -A -Park Donation from Bor i nquen Product s/ Lotus Juices REFERENCES ENCLOSURES It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution accepting a donation valued at $13,700 from the Land Authority of Puerto Rico and their representative Borinquen Products Corporation i.n support of the City's "Summer Olympic Games", in conjunction with the "Pride in Miami Parks" Adopt -A -Park program, further authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement to implement the acceptance of said donation. BACKGROUND: The Department of Parks, Recreation and Public Facili-ties has prepared the attached legislation concerning the acceptance of a donation from the Land Authority of Puerto Rico and their representative Borinquen Products Corporation representing Lotus Juices. The donation will be utilized to cooperatively sponsor the 1988 City of Miami/Lotus Juices "Summer Olympic Games" for youth participating in the Department's summer recreation programs. The total estimated value of this donation will be $13,700 to be given as follows: $ 5,000 in products to be used as refreshments for the Olympics. $ 8,700 in cash and or goods for the production of the Olympics including promotions, T-shirts, Banners and other related materials. This is another effort in the Ci ty' s "Pride in Mi. ami. Parks" Adopt-A- Park•program that will enhance the quality of life for Miami's youth. `UM 7 1 �-r
