A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A DONATION VALUED AT
$13,700 OFFERED BY THE LAND AUTHORITY OF
PUERTO RICO AND THEIR REPRESENTATIVE
SORINQUEN PRODUCTS CORPORATION ON BEHALF OF
LOTUS JUICES TO SUPPORT THE 19-88 CITY OF
MIAMI/LOTUS JUICES SUMMER OLYMPICS IN
CONJUNCTION WITH THE "PRIDE IN MIAMI PARKS"
ADOPT -A -PARK PROGRAM; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT,
SUBSTANTIALLY INCORPORATING THE TERMS AS SET
FORTH 'IN THE ATTACHED CORRESPONDENCE, TO
IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE OF SAID DONATION.
WHEREAS, The Land Authority of Puerto Rico and their
representative, Borinquen Products Corporation has committed
themselves to participate in the City of Miami's "Pride In Miami
Parks" Adopt -A -Park Program by cooperatively sponsoring the 1988
City of Miami/Lotus Juice Summer Olympics for Youth to be held
at various parks from June 20-August 5, 1988; and

activities for no less than 2,000 city youth participating in

WHEREAS, the City of Miami/Lotus Summer Olympics will begin
on June 20, 1988 at the local park level and culminate on August
5, 1988 with the City-wide games; and
WHEREAS, this sponsorship will provide support for City of
Miami youth i.n the City's summer recreation programs in the form
of T-shirts, promotional materials, and refreshments for
parti.cipati.ng youth; and
WHEREAS, this donation is in full agreement with the Adopt -
A -Park philosophy as expressed by the Members of the City
Commission; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:

Dear Sir:
In regard to your letter of June 21, 1988, which express that City of
Miami have redesigned the concept, and now the money solicited is going
to be used directly to advertise Lotus Juice Products, in your recreation
program.
Based on above mentioned and your new proposal, Land Authority of Puerto i
Rico and their representative, Borinquen Products Corporation reject the
old offers and is please to give the new total support requested of $8,700
dollars, plus $5,000 on Lotus Pineapple Juice for the people participant
on this events.
We give you our best wishes, and hope that this activities bring good
termination for both sides. 7bank you for given us the opportunity to
serve you.

It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the
attached resolution accepting a donation valued at $13,700 from the
Land Authority of Puerto Rico and their representative Borinquen
Products Corporation i.n support of the City's "Summer Olympic Games",
in conjunction with the "Pride in Miami Parks" Adopt -A -Park program,
further authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement to
implement the acceptance of said donation.
BACKGROUND:
The Department of Parks, Recreation and Public Facili-ties has
prepared the attached legislation concerning the acceptance of a
donation from the Land Authority of Puerto Rico and their
representative Borinquen Products Corporation representing Lotus
Juices. The donation will be utilized to cooperatively sponsor the
1988 City of Miami/Lotus Juices "Summer Olympic Games" for youth
participating in the Department's summer recreation programs.
The total estimated value of this donation will be $13,700 to be
given as follows:
$ 5,000 in products to be used as refreshments for the
Olympics.
$ 8,700 in cash and or goods for the production of the Olympics
including promotions, T-shirts, Banners and other
related materials.
This is another effort in the Ci ty' s "Pride in Mi. ami. Parks" Adopt-A-
Park•program that will enhance the quality of life for Miami's youth.
