An unfavorable ruling has been made by the HUD auditor, Jacksonville area, regarding our eligibility to receive a grant from your '88-'e9 CDBG application/allocation as an economic develoment activity, although we are a fundable ootivity. As you may recall, at the April 28th meeting of the City Commission, it was recommended that GNU be included in the application for Igoe-89 CDBG for a grant of $1O0,0O0. The proposed use of these funds is to continue providing technical assistance to city -funded not -for -profit development corporations. We are hopeful that this matter can and will be resolved and that the determination will be favorable to us and the City. In the meantime, our program has continued to operate. We are two months into the fiscal year and we -have paid salaries and incurred other costs approximating $25,000 (a portion of which had been requested as an advance on the grant to cover operations pending reimbursement). He are seeking immediate financial relief, and a recommitment from the City to support this worthwhile project. Sincerely, I Antonia N.
