"This concert is important for several reasons." said Nestor
Rodriquez, producer and coordinator of the event. "It's the first
time that a group of classical pianists of this caliber have
volunteered their services to help children stricken with AIDS."
as continued, "In light of Miami's growing prominence as a cultural
and health care center, I believe it's the ideal city to hold and
benefit from the event."
In addition to the piano performance, there will be a pre -concert
reception at Gusman Ball and a gala at the Grand ballroom of the
Intercontinental Botel immediately following the event. Proceeds from
all three will benefit the University of Miami School of Medicine
Pediatric AIDS Program, the Creo Society Fund for Children with AIDS,
and the Children's Now Society.
The Community Alliance Against AIDS' mast recent fundraiser
involved the successfull "An Extraordinary Evening with Elisabeth
Taylor and Friends" where more than $2 million were raised to finance
AIDS -related services, research, community education and hospice care
in South Florida.
The Creo Society is a New York based organisation instrumental in
having raised $4 million for AIDS related causes.
