Dear Ccamissioner De Yurre:
I would like to take this opportunity to request your assistance in ob-

last year for our organization. With your assistance, and those of your
colleagues in the oorrmiesion, we would like to be placed on the next Com-
mission Agenda in order to obtain the same waiver of rental fees for the
auditorium on November 19, 1988, for our 2nd National Conference of Police
Executives.
The Hispanic Police Officers Association will host the 2nd Annual National
Hispanic United in Law Enforcement Conference in Miami, Florida. It will be
held at the Omni Hotel November 17-20, 1988. The purpose of this conference
is to unite Hispanic law enforcement officials throughout the United States
and stricture the preamble and bi-laws for a national organization.
The first conference focused on the sharing of information among agencies
and provided a forum for an exchange of ideas of community interest and
departmental concerns. It also provided national and local law - - r r Mott
officials an opportunity to join forces in a cooperative spirit toward the
betterment of law enforcement in our respective om munities.
A total of 210 law enforoealent officials attended the event, r%zesenting
departments such as Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, New Jersey, New York,
San Antonio, Chicago, San Diego, and Puerto Rico. For local attendees, the
program was state certified by the Florida Standards and Training Oomnis-
sion.
A number of local police departments were represented including Metro Dade
Cavity, Miami Beach, Hialeah, North Miami, Dade County Department of Correo-
tions and Rehabilitation, as well as City of Miami Police Department offi-
cials and civic leaders.
Out-of-town attendees enjoyed the many recreational spots in the area, the
City of Miami was showcased daily with several tours to the many tourist's
attractions.
