HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-88-0844e r] J-88-962 9/27/88 RESOLUTION NO. 4H"N'14 A RESOLUTION ALLOCATING AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $9,630 TO EX-PPESOS Y COMBATIENTES POLITICOS CUBANOS FROM SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND ACCOUNTS, CONTINGENT FUND, TO COVER THE COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE RENTAL AND SUPPORT SERVICES FOR THE. MIAMI CONVENTION CENTER FOR A FUND-RAISER CONCERT TO RE HELD JANUARY 28, 1989, WITH PROCEEDS TO BENEFIT THE MIAMI MENTAL HEALTH CENTER; STIPULATING THAT THE ORGANIZERS PAY THE CITY TWENTY PERCENT (20%) OF GROSS IN EXCESS OF THE BASIC COSTS UP TO THE FULL AMOUNT OF THE CITY'S GRANT; SAID ALLOCATION BEING CONDITIONED UPON SUBSTANTIAL COMPLIANCE. WITH CITY OF MIAMI ADMINISTRATIVE POLICY NO. APM-1-84, DATED JANUARY 24, 1984. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. An amount not to exceed $9,630 is hereby allocated to Ex-Presos y Combatientes Politicos Cubanos, from Special Programs and Accounts, Contingent Fund, to cover the costs associated with the rental and support services for a fund- raiser concert to be held at the Miami Convention Center on January 28, 1989, with proceeds to benefit the Miami Mental Health Center. Section 2. The said organization is hereby directed to pay the City twenty percent (20%) of gross in excess of the basic costs up to the full amount of the City's grant. Section 3. The herein allocation is hereby conditioned upon substantial compliance with City of Miami Administrative Policy APM-1-84, dated January 24, 1984. Its Jurisdiction includes Little Havana, Key Biscavne, Westchester. Coral Gables, Sweetwater and parts of West and South Miami. Mane of these communities have larce Hispanic populations. In an effort to make the work of the Center known to the Hispanic community the Center proposes to undertake a massive public awareness campaign on mental health and substance abuse issues. This cnot only increase awareness but will involve for the first time Hispanic celeberties to champion the fight for mental health and substance free living. Patterned after successful Anglo campaigns which use famous media personalities to increase public awareness, the Miami Pfental Health .enter will be using Hispanic artists in a series of media appearences to Set this message accross. The media campgaign will culminate in a showcase of stars being planned for the James L. Knight Center in Featurine all the performers who have donated their time to the campaign, the concert will be a public celebration of the right to Mental Health 7.
