A RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE EAGLE RUN AGAINST
DRUGS TO BE CONDUCTED BY THE GREATER MIAMI
RUNNING ASSOCIATION ON OCTOBER 22, 1988,
AUTHORIZING THE CLOSURE OF DESIGNATED STREETS
TO THROUGH VEHICULAR TRAFFIC= ESTABLISHING A
TEMPORARY PEDESTRIAN MALL SUBJECT TO THE
ISSUANCE OF PERMITS BY THE DEPARTMENTS OF
POLICE AND FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION
SERVICES AND THE REQUIREMENT THAT THE CITY
WILL BE INSURED AGAINST ANY POTENTIAL
LIABILITY AND UPON ORGANIZERS PAYING FOR ALL
NECESSARY COSTS OF CITY SERVICES.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDAs
Section 1. In order to effectuate safe passage during the
Eagle Run Against Drugs the following streets are hereby closed
to through vehicular traffic on Saturday, October 22, 1988 as
specified below:
6:@@ A.M. to 1@:0@ A.M.:
Flagler Street from Biscayne Boulevard to West
Second Avenue.
Southwest Second Avenue from Flagler Street to
Southwest Third Street.
Southwest Third Street from Southwest Second
Avenue to South Miami Avenue.
South Miami Avenue from Southwest Third Street to
Southwest Eleventh Street.
East bound Southern most lane of Southeast Eighth
Street from South Miami Avenue to Brickell
Avenue.
Eastern most Northern bound lane of Brickell
Avenue from Southeast Eighth Street to Biscayne
Boulevard Way.
Biscayne Boulevard Way from Brickell Avenue to
Chopin Plaza.
Included in the herein closure are all streets,
avenues, alleys, ways and thoroughfares which
intersect the enumerated areas delineated in this
Section.

Section 2. Such closing of streets is subject to State
approval and issuance of permits by the Departments of Police and
Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services. Said permit from the
Department of Police is to be issued upon full approval of the
Chief of Police after giving all due consideration to the safety
and traffic needs of residents, businesses, and religious
institutions in the area for entering and crossing through said
arterials and upon the favorable exercise of the City Manager's
judgement predicated upon all factors set forth herein.
Section 3. Such street closures are subject to the
organizers obtaining insurance requirements as mandated by the
City of Miami and paying for all necessary costs of City
services.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 6th day of October , 1988.

It is respectfully recommended tat the City Commission adopt the
attached resolution authorizing s reet closures in connection with
the Eagle Run Against Drugs to b conducted by the Greater Miami
Running Association on Saturday, Oc ober 22, 1988.
BACKGROUND:
The Department of Community Development has prepared the appropriate
legislation which authorises the closure of certain streets for the
Eagle Run Against Drugs to be conducted by the Greater Miami Running
Association to be held on Saturday, October 22, 1988. This event is
a SK/Run/Walk in support of informed Parents for Drug Free Youth.
