ENCLOSURES
On June 29, 1988, an Agreement between the City and Ricoh was
executed accepting a grant of $330,666 for the renovation of the
Japanese Garden. The Chairman of the San -Ai -Kai, Ricoh San-si Group,
Mr. Miyoshi, is coming to Miami from Tokyo, Japan accompanied by
other Japanese executives on December 9, 1988, to dedicate the
reopening of the Japanese Garden. By this data, the City and Ricoh
shall have certain elements of the renovation complete in accordance
with the Agreement. Per the Agreement, Ricoh is responsible for the
major construction items and the City for general site work,
including the walkways and pond.
Due to the time constraint, it is recommended the City bid out its
portion of the work to a landscape contractor. Award of a bid
scheduled for October .13, 1988, allows 'a n approximate 45-day
construction period. In order to award the bid on October 13, 1988,
it is requested that the Public Works Department be directed to
assist the Department of Development in preparation of bid documents
to fulfill the City's obligation. An advertisement for bids is
scheduled to run September 16, 1988 with sealed bids due October 4,
1988.
