HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-88-0906J-88-809 8/16/88 RESOLUTION NO. 48-906 A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID OF MARTIN'S LAMAR UNIFORMS FOR FURNISHING UNIFORMS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF POLICE ON A CONTRACT BASIS FOR ONE (1) YEAR WITH THE OPTION TO RENEW FOR TWO (2) ADDITIONAL ONE YEAR PERIODS AT A TOTAL ESTIMATED FIRST YEAR COST OF $327,238.00 ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE 1988-89 OPERATING BUDGET ACCOUNT CODE #290201-075; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE PURCHASE ORDERS FOR THESE SUPPLIES AND TO EXTEND THIS CONTRACT FOR TWO (2) ADDITIONAL ONE YEAR PERIODS, SUBJECT TO THE AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS. WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received May 25, 1988 for the furnishing of Uniforms on a contract basis for one (1) year with the option to renew for two (2) additional one year periods for the Department of Police. and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to thirteen (13) potential suppliers and two (2) bids were received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase will be available from the 1988-8990perating Budget Account Code #290201-075; and WHEREAS, these supplies will be used by the Department of Police for the purpose of replacing uniforms worn out by current officers and outfit new police personnel, as provided in the FOP contract; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Police recommend that the bid received from Martin's Lamar Uniforms be accepted as the most responsible and responsive bid; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: CITY COMMISSIO1 MEETING OP 00 6 "1 w w.. 88--906 A A, Section 1. The May 25, 1988 bid of Martin's Lamar Uniforms for furnishing Uniforms on a contract basis for One (1) year with the option to renew for two (2) additional one year periods to the Department of Police at a total estimated first year cost of $327,238.00 is hereby accepted with funds therefor hereby allocated from the 1988-8990perating Budget Account Code #290201- 075. Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to instruct the Chief Procurement Officer to issue Purchase Orders for these supplies and to extend this contract for two (2) additional one year periods, subject to the availability of funds. It Is respectfully recommended that an award be made and a resolution be passed accepting the low bid as received from Martin's Lamar Uniforms for furnishing uniforms on a contract basis for one (1) year, renewable annually, for a total proposed cost of =327,238. BACKGROUND: The Department of Police has analyzed the bids received on May 28, 1988, for furnishing uniforms on a contract basis for one (1) year, renewable annually. The Department has found Martin's Lamar Uniforms has met the Department's specifications and provided the lowest bid. On May 3, 1988, Invitations for sealed bids for furnishing uniforms ware sent to prospective vendors. Bids were opened on May 25, 1988, with two (2) vendors submitting bids and one responding with a "No Bid". The Department of Police will utilize these uniforms to replace those worn out by our current officers and outfit new police. personnel, as provided for in the FOP Contract. Ms. Adrienne Macaeth was contacted reference to Minority Participation and she concurred with the Department's r ecommenda t Ion.
