RESOLUTION NO. 88-876
A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE TAX-EXEMPT
STATUS CLAIMED BY PLYMOUTH CONGREGATIONAL
CHURCH , IN SUPPORT OF ITS REQUEST FOR
RETURN OF MONIES PAID BY IT BECAUSE OF ITS
FAILURE TO TIMELY FILE APPLICATION FOR
TAX-EXEMPT STATUS OF PROPERTY LOCATED
IWITHIN THE CITY OF MIAMI; AUTHORIZING AND
SA DR CHURCH THE AMOUNT FINANCE OF DIRECTOR
825.05 SAID
SUM BEING CONFIRMED AS THE AMOUNT RECEIVED
BY THE CITY AS A RESULT OF THE CHURCH'S
NONCOMPLIANCE WITH THE FILING DEADLINE;
FURTHER ALLOCATING SAID SUM FROM SPECIAL
PROGRAMS AND ACCOUNTS, CONTINGENT FUND.
WHEREAS, Plymouth Congregational Church has been recognized
as having a tax-exempt status under provisions of the Florida
Statutes; and
WHEREAS, the City has received $1,825.05 from tax monies
paid by said church due to its having failed to perfect its claim
for recognition of such status;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA;
Section 1. The tax exempt status recognized under Florida
law and claimed by Plymouth Congregational Church, in support of
its request for the waiver of monies owed to the City because of
its failure to timely file an application for tax-exempt status of
property located in the City of Miami is hereby recognized and the
Finance Director is hereby authorized and instructed to reimburse
said church the amount of $1,825.05, said sum being confirmed as
the amount received by the City as a result of the noncompliance
with the filing deadline by Plymouth Congregational Church.

It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the
attached resolution recognizing the tax-exempt status claimed by
Plymouth Congregational Church, and support its request for
return of monies paid by it because of its failure to file an
application for tax-exempt status of property located Within the
City of Miami, and authorizing and instructing the Finance
Director to reimburse to said Church the amount of $1,825.05,.and
allocating said sum from Special Programs and Accounts Contingent
Fund.
BACKGROUND:
The Finance Department recommends reimbursing the amount of
$1,825.05, paid by Plymouth Congregational Church to the City for
property taxes, for its failure to file in 1987 an application
for tax-exempt status of property located in the City of Miami.
