Odi Manager RECOMMENDATION: DATE: O ? 988 FILE W 91 SUBJECT. esolutlon Authorizing the City Manager to Execute an Agreement with Shelter Advertising of America, Inc. REFERENCES October 13, 1988 ENCLOSURES Commission Meeting It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, with Shelter Advertising of America, Inc. for the installation and maintenance of bus shelters within the City of Miami. BACKGROUND: The Department of Public Works has evaluated the proposals received on August 24, 1988, in connection with the Bus Shelter RFP. It has been determined that the proposal submitted by Shelter Advertising of America, Inc., is the most responsive and responsible, and provides the highest revenue to the City. Two bids were received; both bidders substantially comply with the City of Miami's minority participation goals. The RFP indicated proferred revenue to the City either as a flat fee, or as a percentage of income produced by advertisements. According to current industry standards, if the advertising revenue is estimated at $2,000 per year per shelter, it is more advantageous for the City to use the flat fee schedules provided in the proposal. Of these, the one submitted by Shelter Advertising of America, Inc., offers the best returns. The installation of these shelters will offer protection from the sun and rain, a convenience to the traveling public. The proposed agreement is for five years with two additional five year periods, if the company is in good standing. The anticipated revenue if the contract runs for the full fifteen years is $2,017,100. This revenue is based on fixed flat fees for each bus shelter that Shelter Advertising.of America, Inc. installs. t4017a^' SN-105 5 63 -1
