S-13,i v A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING MARK VALENTINE FROM AMONG THE LAW FIRMS RECOMMENDED BY THE CITY ATTORNEY TO ACT AS SPECIAL, COUNSEL TO THE CIVIL SERVICE BOARD, SAID FIRM TO BE APPOINTED BY THE CITY ATTORNEY TO SERVE AS SPECIAL COUNSEL TO SAID BOARD AT THE RATE OF COMPENSATION SPECIFIED HEREIN WITH FUNDS 1� THEREFOR IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $18,000 TO BE PROVIDED FROM MONIES APPROPRIATED IN THE BUDGET OF THE CIVIL SERVICE OFFICE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The designation of Mark Valentine from among the law firms recommended by the City Attorney to act as special counsel to the Civil Service Board is hereby made, with said firm to be appointed by the City Attorney to serve as Special Counsel to said Board at the rate of compensation agreed upon by the City Attorney and Mark Valentine and with funds for the above authorized services in an amount not to exceed $18,000 1/ to be provided from monies appropriated in the budget of the Civil Service Office. The Resolutions provide for the appointment of outside counsel to the Code Enforcement Board and the Civil Service Board. We have taken steps to solicit attorneys who are interested in becoming counsel to two city boards. By law, outside counsel which is not directly associated with the City Attorney's Office is required for the Boards. The list of attorneys will be forwarded to you under separate cover. I have reviewed their resumes and believe that each individual is qualified for the position. 1. Armando J. Bucelo, Jr., Esquire 2. Leslie W. Langbein, Esquire 3. Mark A. Valentine, Esquire 4. Richard J. Weiss, Esquire All of the above attorneys have indicated fees ranging from $85.00 to $135.00/per hour and with annual caps ranging from $18,000 to $40,000. The expected actual number of hours to be expended yearly range from 192 to 300, based on their expectation of service to be rendered.
