NS-1061 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN INCREASE IN THE CONTRACT AMOUNT OF $2,315.43 IN THE CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA AND MADSLN/BARR CORPORATION DATED A P R I L 30, 1987 FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF N.W. 8 STREET ROAD HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENT C I P PROJECT NO 341111, SAID FUNDS TO BE PROVIDED FROM THE HIGHWAY AND STORM SEWER GENERAL OBLIGATION BOND FUNDS WITH FUNDS ALREADY ALLOCATED TO THE PROJECT; FURTHER ACCEPTING THE COMPLETED WORK OF MADSEN/BARR CORPORATION AT A TOTAL COST OF $639,319.43; AND AUTHORIZING A FINAL PAYMENT OF $36,330.46 WHEREAS, there exists a contract dated April 30, 1987 between the City of Miami, Florida and Madsen/Barr Corporation, for N.W. 8 STREET ROAD HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENT, CIP Project No. 341111; and WHEREAS, an increase in contract of $2,315.43 is i required to cover the cost of extra work requested by the City; and WHEREAS, the Director of the Department of Public Works recommends the increase in contract to cover the additional costs; and WHEREAS, funds to cover the increase are available from money already allocated to the project; and WHEREAS, all of the work included in the contract and the proposed increase in contract has been satisfactorily completed by Madsen/Barr Corporation and they have furnished the required documents certifying that all bills for labor and - materials have been paid in full in connection with the aforesaid contract; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Public Works recommend acceptance of the completed work and authorization of final payment to the contractor; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: [RESOLUTION Y COWUSSI(J14 MEETII�3 C OF NOV 3 1966 88-lOf No.S:: t i_ I Section 1. The contract between the City of Miami, Florida and Madsen/Barr Corporation for the construction of N.W. 8 STREET ROAD HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENT C1P Project. No. 341111 dated April 30, 1987 is hereby increased by $2,315.43 with funds for the increase to be provided from monies already allocated to the project . Section 2. The completed work performed by Madsen/Barr Corporation. for N.W. 8 STREET ROAD HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENT C.I.P. Project No. 341111 is hereby accepted at a total cost of $639,319.43. Section 3. CIP Project No. 341111 Resolution for Increase in Contract and Final Payment REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution authorizing an increase in contract in the amount of $2,315.43 in the contract between the City of Miami, Florida and Madsen/Barr Corporation for the construction of N.W. 8 Street Road Highway Improvement CIP Project No. 341111; said funds to be provided from the Highway and Storm Sewer General Obligation Bond Funds already allocated to the project; further accepting the completed work of Madsen/Barr Corporation, at a total cost of $639,319.43 and authorizing a final payment of $36,330.46. BACKGROUND: The Department of Public Works has determined that it is now in order for the Commission to authorize an increase in contract amount, accept the completed work and authorize final payment, after all conditions are met for N.W. 8 Street Road Highway Improvement - CIP Project No. 341111. The N.W. 8 Street Road Highway Improvement has been completed by Madsen/Barr Corporation. The project consisted of constructing 0.5 mile of street including clearing and grading, asphaltic pavement, concrete curb and/or gutters, concrete sidewalk, storm sewers, and landscaping located in N.W. 8 Street Road between N.W. 7-10 Avenues and N.W. 10 Avenue between N.W. 8 Street Road and the East/West Expressway.
