S8- 10 (11 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF ADDITIONAL MICROCOMPUTERS AND PERIPHERAL EQUIPMENT FROM UNISYS CORPORATION, UNDER AN EXISTING DADE COUNTY BID AWARD CONTRACT NO. 1059-7/88 FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF LAW FOR ENHANCEMENT OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE CAPACITY OF THE LAW DEPARTMENT'S POLICE LEGAL UNIT, AT A TOTAL PROPOSED COST OF $11,433.70; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE LAW DEPARTMENT'S BUDGETED FUNDS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THE EQUIPMENT. WHEREAS, the herein equipment will allow the Police Legal Unit of the Law Department to increase its efficiency in the area of forfeiture actions which has generated funds that allow the City's law enforcement effort an opportunity to implement extraordinary measures needed to meet the challenge of controlling crime in the City of Miami; and WHEREAS, this purchase will be made under an existing Metropolitan Dade County Bid Award Contract No. 1059-7/88, expiration date, July 31, 1989, with the UNISYS Corporation, for the provision of microcomputers and peripherals. WHEREAS, the equipment consists of two B-25 computers at a total cost of $8,741.30 over the five year purchase period and a first year cost of $1,748.26 with a transportation charge of $154.00; one printer at a total cost of $1,626.90 and a first year cost of $325.38 with a transportation charge of $80.00; and one sheetfeeder at a total cost of $818.50 and a first year cost of $163.70 with a transportation charge of $13.00; and WHEREAS, funds in the total amount of $11,433.70 are available in the Law Department budget in the Capital Outlay Account for Fiscal Year 1988-89; CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF NOV 3 1988 RESOLUTION No.8871044 REMARKS: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAM1, FLORIDA: Section 1. The purchase of additional microcomputers and peripheral equipment under existing Dade County Bid Award Contract No. 1059-7/88 for the Department of Law for enhancement of the administrative capacity of the Law Department's Police Legal Unit, at a total proposed cost of $11,433.70, with a first year cost of $2,484.34 is hereby approved with funds therefor hereby allocated from the Law Department budgeted funds. Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to instruct the Chief Procurement Officer to issue a purchase order for this equipment. October 27, 1988 (1) It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution authorizing the purchase of microcomputers and peripheral equipment for the Law Department Police Legal. Unit, from the UNISYS Corporation at a total cost of $11,433.70. The equipment consists of two B-25 computers at a total cost of $8,741.30 over the five year purchase period and a first year cost of $1,748.26 with a transportation charge of $154.00; one printer at a total cost of $1,626.90 and a first year cost of $325.38 with a transportation charge of $80.00; and one sheetfeeder at a total cost of $818.50 and a first year cost of $163.70 with a transportation charge of $13.00. This additional equipment will enable our department to maintain an effective level of productivity particularly in the area of forfeiture actions. The immediate acquisition of the equipment will allow the Police Legal Unit to increase the efficiency of this activity which has generated funds that allow the law enforcement effort an opportunity to implement extraordinary measures needed to meet the challenge of controlling crime in the City of Miami. Accordingly, this item is being forwarded to the Agenda Office for placement on the October 27th Commission Meeting Agenda. This purchase will be made under an existing Metropolitan Dade County Bid Award contract with the UNISYS Corporation, for the provision of micromputers and peripherals, Contract No. 1059-7788, expiration date, July,31, 1989.
