FLORIDA INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM TO, Honorable Mayor and Member DATE: n''T ' 1 zsae FILE: of the City Commission 'J. ' SUSJECT: Lummus Park Redevelopment FROM: Cesar H. Ddi REFERENCES: Commission Meeting Agenda City Manager October 13, 1988 ENCLOSURES: RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution allocating the amount of $79,500 of Twelfth (12th) Year Community Development Block Grant Program Contingency funds to cover costs associated with the redevelopment of Lummus Park in the Downtown target area. BACKGROUND: The Department of Community Development, at the request of the Planning Department, has analyzed the need of this project for more funding, and has presented the attached resolution for your adoption. The Lummus Park Redevelopment Project entails construction of an entry plaza, new lighting, landscaping, site furniture, walkways paving, and other amenities in the surrounding area. The original allocation for this project was $147,924 of Sixth (6th) Year Community Development Block Grant funds. After receiving the project's bids, it has been determined that an additional allocation of $79,500 from the Community Development Block Grant Program Contingency account will be required to complete all improvements anticipated for Phase I of the project. The cost for Phase I of this redevelopment activity was anticipated to be less than the $300,000 bid accepted for the Park. It is recommended that the City Commission approve the attached resolution allocating additional funding to the Lummus Park Redevelopment Project. Attachment: Proposed Resolution
