Odio, City Manager 24 DATE U L' 4 1988 FILE Resolution Accepting Work and SUBJECT Authorizing Final Payment for Maximo Gomez Park Renovation REFERENCES ENCLOSURES. RBCOMMMDATION: It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution accepting the completed work of Tarafa Construction, Inc. at a total cost of $94,345 for the Renovation of Maximo Gomez (Domino) Park and authorizing a final payment of $9,434.50 to the Little Havana Development Authority, Inc. (LHDA), for repayment to Tarafa Construction, under a City grant to LHDA for this work as part of the Citywide Neighborhood Parks Renovation Project No. 331303. BACKGROUND: The Department of Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities has prepared the attached legislation after conferring with the Department of Public Works. The Administration has determined that it is now approriate for the City Commission to accept the completed work and authorize final payment, after all conditions are met, for the Maximo Gomez (Domino) Park Renovation Project. On February 18, 1988, by Resolution No. 88-150, the City Commission allocated a grant in the amount of $90,000 to LHDA for the purposes of renovating this vital Little Havana landmark on a fast -track basis. A grant agreement was duly executed between the City and LHDA on April 15, 1988. LHDA subsequently entered into an agreement, dated May 9, 1988, with Tarafa Construction, Inc. for the performance of the renovation work as detailed in plans prepared by the Public Works Department. All grant funds provided to LHDA have been used exclusively by that organization to pay Tarafa for this work. During the course of construction, additional sitework was required and the City Manager authorized an increase to the grant in the amount of $4,345. Tarafa has now completed all required work including: concrete demolition and replacement, tree and stump removal, replacement of chain link fence with decorative fencing, contruction of an information booth, restroom renovation and lighting improvements. By adoption of the attached resolution, the City will not only complete its grant obligation, but will recognize the hard work and cooperative effort of staff, LHDA and Tarafa Construction. 88-102E; 2y -/
