It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the
attached resolution formalizing Motion No. 88-845, passed by the
City Commission on September 27, 1988, which allocates $10,000
from 1987-88 Special Programs and Accounts, Special Events, in

BACKGROUND:
The Department of Community Development has prepared the

City Commission on September 27, 1988, expressing its intent to
allocate $10,000 from monies left over from 1987-88 Special
Programs and Accounts, Special Events, as a result of a reduction
of funds to the Greater Miami Opera during the 1987-88 season.
Additionally, the City Commission authorized that the amount of
$8,000 from profits, if any, derived from parking and concession
rights at the Orange Bowl Stadium be utilized to pay for Orange
Bowl expenses. The City Commission also ratified a $2,300
allocation from Downtown Development Authority funds to pay for
the production of banners.
On October 6, 1988, the City Commission adopted Resolution No.
88-911, allocating $21,000 (through the City's festival
Ordinance) in support of the aforementioned event. The above
allocation of $10,000 represents additional assistance to cover
all the costs of City services for the event.
The attached resolution formalizes the Commission's intent to
lend additional support to the 1988 Orange Blossom Classic.
