MIAMI,-FLORIDA m CITY 10121 .: 8&10210 in1v CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM To: Honorable Mayor and Members oATE: e% -7 1988 FILE: of the City Commission SUSJECTAmendment to Capital Improvement Appropriations Ordinance No. 10347 FqOCesar H. Od i o REFERENCES: City Manager ENCLOSURES (For October 13, 1988 Commission Meeting) RECOMMENDATION It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached ordinance amending Ordinance No. 10347, the City's Capital Improvement Appropriations Ordinance, to increase the appropriation for Coconut Grove Storm Sewers, Project No. 352187. BACKGROUND The Department of Public Works, in an effort to implement the City's Storm Drainage Master Plan and to serve .all residents of the City of Miami, is proposing an amendment to the City's Capital Improvement Appropriations Ordinance No. 10347 to increase the appropriation for Coconut Grove Storm Sewers, Project No. 352187, by $80,000. Ordinance No. 10347, adopted on November 19, 1987, appropriated $600,000 for Coconut Grove Storm Sewers. Subsequent to .the passage of the ordinance and during the design phase of the project, the Department of Public Works decided to expand the scope of the project to alleviate additional drainage problems in the Coconut Grove area. Competitive bids were received for the project on September 20, 1988. Based on the lowest acceptable bid submitted by Miri Construction Inc., the total project cost will be $680,000. Since only $600,000 has been appropriated, an additional $80,000 must be appropriated in order to award a contract and proceed with the project. According to the C i t y ' s standard contract documents, the contractor has the right to withdraw his bid if a contract is not awarded within 60 days of the date of 'the bid opening. The additional $80,000 are available from the 1984 Storm Sewer General Obligation Bond. Fund. 1U$lO 33-/
