INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM
TO Honorable Mayor and Members DATE OCT 2 4 1988 FILE
of the City Commission
SLI&JECT Public Hearing concerning
the Proposed Vehicular Access
Restriction to S.W. 28 Street
at S.W. 26 Avenue
FROM REFERENCES
Cesar M. Odio (For Commission Meeting of
City Manager ENCLOSURES November 3, 1988)
The purpose of the November 3, 1988 public hearing is to hear
comments concerning vehicular access restriction to S.W. 28
Street at approximately S.W. 26 Avenue.
BACKGROUND
At the May 19, 1988 City Commission Meeting, Resolution No. 88-
481 was passed requesting Metropolitan Dade County to take steps
which will result in the installation of stationary stop signs at
each intersecting street along S.W. 28 Street between S.W. 22 and
27 Avenues. The reason for this request was in response to
concerns of the property owners residing in the neighborhood that
vehicular traffic often exceeds the posted speed limit on this
section of roadway.
A group of citizens are now requesting that vehicular access to
S.W. 28 Street be restricted at approximately S.W. 26 Avenue.
The Fire Department, Solid Waste Department and Public. Works
Department have previously gone on record as opposing any vehicle
restriction of S.W. 28 Street between S.W. 22 and 27 Avenues.
Encls: Fire Department and Solid Waste Department
responses are attached.
