MICROCOMPUTERS AND PERIPHERAL EQUIPMENT FROM BURROUGHS CORPORATION, NOW UNISYS CORPORATION, UNDER AN EXISTING DADE COUNTY CONTRACT [OR THE ENHANCEMENT OF EXISTING COMPUTER SYSTEMS IN THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT; AT A PROPOSED COST OF: $37,010 FOR THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT OVER A PERIOD OF FIVE (5) YEARS WITH A FISCAL YEAR 1988-89 PAYMENT OF $14,R50.00, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM THE DEPARTMENT'S FISCAL YEAR 1988-1989 GENERAL FUND, ACCOUNT 380101-880 FOR 114F AMOUNT Of $5,890.00 AND FROM THE MIAMI COMPREHENSIVE NEIGHBORHOOD PLAN, ACCOUNT 380246-840-125001 FOR 111E AMOUNT OF $8,960.00; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE PURCHASE ORDERS FOR THE EQUIPMENT. WHEREAS, the five years data processing plan prepared for the City and approved by the Commission on September 7, 1983 called for the development of a unified policy on the acquisition and support of word processing and microcomputers; and WHEREAS, more than three hundred B-20 microcomputers have been installed in city-wide departments to provide a multitude of applications; and WHEREAS, there is a currently effective Dade County Contract, No. #1059- 7/88 with UNISYS Corporation for furnishing B-20 microcomputers and associated peripherals equipment; and WHEREAS, the Miami Planning Department has the need to supplement and expand the capacity of currently existing equipment by acquiring five (5) B-28 and two (2) B-38 workstations in order to further the departmental goal of complete office automation and in order to allow the Department to meet the continuing requirements of the Florida Local Government Comprehensive Planning Act; and WHEREAS, said firm's contract constitutes a responsible and responsive bid that meets the city's specifications for equipment; and WHEREAS, funds for these purchases of are available in the Planning Department Fiscal Year 1988-89 General Fund, account 380101-880, in the amount of $5890, for the first year lease -purchase of three B-28 workstations and two B-38 workstations; and in the Miami Comprehensive Neighborhood Plan project, account 380246-840-125001 in the amount. of $8960, for the Fiscal Year 1988-89 purchase of two B-28 workstations, at a total cost of $37,010 over a five (5) year period; and CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF Iitc�:.NRKS: t WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Computers recommend that the purchase of said equipment from the UNISYS Corporation be approved; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section I. The City Manager is hereby authorized to instruct the Chief Procurement Officer to issue purchase orders, under the existing Dade County contract with UNISYS Corporation, for the lease -purchase of three (3) B-28 and two (2) B-38 microcomputers, and the outright purchase of two additional B-28 microcomputers for the purpose of supplementing the capacity of existing computer systems in the Miami Planning Department; allocating funds from the Planning Department Fiscal Year 1988-89 General Fund, account 380101-880 and Miami Comprehensive Neighborhood Plan account 380246-840-125001, in the amount of $14,850 for the Fiscal Year 1988-89, not to exceed a total cost of $37,010.00 over a five (5) year period. Odio City Manager ENCLOSURES NOV 7 1988 FILE Recommendation for Resolution Authorizing Purchase of Unisys Corporation Micro computer/ Peripheral Equipment It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution authorizing the purchase of additional microcomputers and peripheral equipment from Burroughs Corporation, now the Unisys Corporation. This equipment is needed to supplement and expand the capacity of existing equipment in the Miami Planning Department in order for the department to further its goal of complete office automation. The proposed cost of $37,010 over a period of five years with the Fiscal Year 1988-89 payment of, $14,850, will be funded from the Planning Department FY'89 General Fund, account 380101-880, and "Miami Comprehensive Neighborhood Plan" account 380246-840- 125001. This funding will cover the lease -purchase of two B-38 and three B-28 workstations, as well as the outright purchase of two additional B-28's. The Miami Planning Department, based on its work program, automation of the zoning process and the increase in workload created by the state comprehensive planning legislation, currently needs to supplement and expand the capacity of its current microcomputer equipment used for word processing, database development, and socioeconomic analysis. It is therefore, respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution authorizing the purchase of additional microcomputers and peripheral equipment from Unisys Corporation. The sources of funding will be as follows: Planning Department FY'88-89, General Fund account 380101-880 and Miami Comprehensive Neighborhood Plan account 380246-840-125001. 88-1111
