Recommendation for Resolution
Authorizing Purchase of Unisys
Corporation Micro computer/
Peripheral Equipment
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached
resolution authorizing the purchase of additional microcomputers and
peripheral equipment from Burroughs Corporation, now the Unisys Corporation.
This equipment is needed to supplement and expand the capacity of existing
equipment in the Miami Planning Department in order for the department to
further its goal of complete office automation. The proposed cost of $37,010
over a period of five years with the Fiscal Year 1988-89 payment of, $14,850,
will be funded from the Planning Department FY'89 General Fund, account
380101-880, and "Miami Comprehensive Neighborhood Plan" account 380246-840-
125001. This funding will cover the lease -purchase of two B-38 and three B-28
workstations, as well as the outright purchase of two additional B-28's.
The Miami Planning Department, based on its work program, automation of the
zoning process and the increase in workload created by the state comprehensive
planning legislation, currently needs to supplement and expand the capacity of
its current microcomputer equipment used for word processing, database
development, and socioeconomic analysis.
It is therefore, respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the
attached resolution authorizing the purchase of additional microcomputers and
peripheral equipment from Unisys Corporation. The sources of funding will be
as follows: Planning Department FY'88-89, General Fund account 380101-880 and
Miami Comprehensive Neighborhood Plan account 380246-840-125001.
