HAY AND FEED 1N THE AMOUNT OF $26,801.00 TO THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO FURNISH FEED TO THE MOUNTED POLICE HORSES AND K-9 UNIT DOGS ON A CONTRACT BASIS FOR ONE, (1) YEAR WITH THE OPTION TO RENEW FOR TWO (2) ADDITIONAL ONE YEAR PERIODS AT A TOTAL ESTIMATED FIRST YEAR COST OF $36,679.00 ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE 1988-89 OPERATING BUDGET ACCOUNT CODE #290301-710; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE PURCHASE ORDERS FOR 'THESE SUPPLIES AND TO EXTEND THIS CONTRACT FOR TWO (2) ADDITIONAL ONE YEAR PERIODS AT THE SAME PRICE, TERMS AND CONDITIONS SUBJECT TO THE AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS. WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received September. 7, 1988 for the furnishing of feed to police horses and dogs of the Mounted Patrol and K-9 Unit on a contract basis for a period of one (1) year with the option to renew for. two (2) additional one year period to the Department of Police; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to eighteen (18) potential suppliers and four (4) bids were received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase will be available from the 1988-8990per.ating Budget Account Code #290201-710; and WHEREAS, the Department of Police will utilize the feed to maintain the horses and dogs of the Mounted Patrol and K-9 Units; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Police recommend that the bids received from O.K. Feed Store in the amount of $9,878.00 and P.O.G. Hay and Feed Store in the amount of $26,801.00 for a total proposed cost of $36,679.00 be accepted as the lowest most responsible and responsive bids; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF NOV 17 1988 1 A8-1094 ?N No. Rn1ARKS 41 0 Section 1. The September 7, 1988 bids of O.K. Feed Store in the amount of $9,878.00 and P.O.G. Hay and Feed in the amount of $26,801.00 to supply feed to maintain the police horses and dogs in the Mounted Patrol and K-9 Units on a contract basis for one (1) year with the option to renew for two (2) additional one year periods to the Department of Police at a total estimated first year cost of $36,679.00 is hereby accepted with funds therefor hereby allocated from the 1988-89 Operating Budget Account Code #290201-710. Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to instruct the Chief Procurement Officer to issue Purchase Orders for these supplies and to extend this contract for two (2) additional one year periods at the same price, terms and conditons subject to the availability of funds. Feed Store, in the amount of $9,878, and P.O.G. Hay and Feed, in the amount of $26,801, for a total of $36,679, to furnish the Police Department with feed for Police Horses and Dogs, on a contract basis, for one year; further authorizing the City Manager to extend' the contract for additional one year periods under the same .price, terms and conditions subject to the availability of funds. Funding will be FY '88-89 Police Operating Budget, Index Code 290301-710. The Police Department has analyzed the bids received on September 7, I988, for furnishing feed for police horses and dogs. The Department has found the bids of O.K. Feed Store and P.O.G. Hay and Feed to meet the needs and specifications of the Mounted Patrol and K-9 Units. On August 17, 1988, invitations for sealed kids for furnishing feed for police horses and dogs were sent to prospective vendors. Bids were opened on September 7, 1988, with four (4) vendors submitting bids. The Department of Police will utilize the feed to maintain the horses and dogs of the Mounted Patrol and K-9 Units. Ms. Adrienne MacBeth was contacted in reference to Minority Participation and she concurs with the Department's recommendation. It is, therefore, recommended that the award of bid be made to O.K. Feed Store and P.O.G. Hay and Feed, in the amounts of $9,878 and $26,801 respectively.
