RESOLUTION NO. 89- 72
A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR A
$120,000 GRANT FROM THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF
NATURAL RESOURCES, FY 189-90 FLORIDA
RECREATION DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
BUDGET, TO BE MATCHED ON $2 FOR $1
STATE/LOCAL BASIS WITH $60,000 AVAILABLE FROM
PARK AND RECREATION CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT
FUNDS, PROJECT NO. 331303; FURTHER CERTIFYING
THAT THE CITY OF MIAMI WILL BE THE LOCAL
SPONSOR FOR SAID GRANT PROJECT; AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL
AGREEMENTS AND OTHER DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO
IMPLEMENT THE GRANT UPON AWARD, SUBJECT TO
APPLICABLE CITY CODE PROVISIONS.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami recognizes the need to redevelop
and add new facilities at Allapattah Comstock Park; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Natural Resources
provides funding for Recreation Development projects through its
Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program; and
WHEREAS, such funding is provided on a $2 for $1 state/local
match basis for resource -based recreational improvements; and
WHEREAS, the City has need for additional resource -based
recreational facilities in Allapattah-Comstock Park, including a
new picnic area, a bike trail, timberform play area, landscaping,
—�� and renovations to the existing picnic shelters; and
WHEREAS, said capital improvements are not presently
addressed in the existing Allapattah-Comstock Park Project within
the Citywide Neighborhood Park Renovations Program; and
WHEREAS, the total cost of these new improvements to said
park is estimated to be $180,000 and will constitute a new
project, to be entitled "Allapattah-Comstock Park Redevelopment
Project - Phase II"; and
WHEREAS, matching funds in the amount of $60,000 are
available from the Parks and Recreation Capital Improvement
Funds, Project No. 331303; and

REMARKS:
WHEREAS, said project is consistent with the City-wide
Neighborhood Park Renovations Program presented by the Park
Advisory Board and with the City's Comprehensive Plan, both of
which were developed through community participation processes
_ which will continue for this new project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City's application for a $120,000 grant to
the Florida Department of Natural Resources through its Florida
Recreation Development Assistance Program for funds for the
redevelopment of Allapattah-Comstock Park is hereby approved.
Section 2. An amount not to exceed $60,000 in matching
funds is hereby allocated from Park and Recreation Capital
Improvement Funds, Project No. 331303.
Section 3. It is hereby certified that the City of Miami
will be the local sponsor for the herein described grant Project.
Section 4. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute
all agreements with the Department of Natural Resources and other
documents necessary to implement the grant upon award, subject to
applicable City Code provisions.
Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption pursuant to law.
