HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-89-00013-89-56 12/20/88 RESOLUTION N0.�' A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE DONATION OF ONE PORTABLE BATTING CAGE, WITH AN ESTIMATED VALUE OF $2000, FROM MIAMI DADE COMMUNITY COLLEGE, WOLFSON CAMPUS, FOR USE BY THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS, RECREATION AND PUBLIC FACILITIES, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE "PRIDE IN MIAMI PARKS" ADOPT -A -PARK PROGRAM. WHEREAS, one (1) portable batting cage, with an estimated �j value of $2000, has been offered to the City of Miami by Miami Dade Community College, Wolfson Campus; and i� WHEREAS, the Department of Parks, Recreation and Public �Y Facilities has need for this equipment for it baseball recreational programs in the parks; and J WHEREAS, this donation is in full agreement with the Adopt- �. A -Park philosophy as expressed by the City Commission; and WHEREAS, the City Manager has expressed his endorsement of this cooperative effort; ' NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY - OF MIAMI, FLORIDA; Section 1. The donation of one (1) portable baseball batting cage, with an estimated value of $2000, from Miami Dade Community College, Wolfson Campus, is hereby accepted in accordance with the "Pride in Miami Parks" Adopt -A -Park Program for use by the Department of Parks Recreation and Public Facilities. U07171 TV,ENE 9i f Honorable Mayor and TO: of the ommission Cesar H. odio FROM : City Manager Members DATE : JAN - 3 1989 FILE SUBJECT : Resolution accepting a - gift from Miami Dade Community College REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: _ 3 Recommendation:, i It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the a batting attached resolution to accept the donation of portable value of $2000, from Miami Dade Community cage, with an estimated College, Wolfson Campus in conjunction with the "Pride in Miami Parks" Adopt -A -Park Program. _ Background: The Department of Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities has with the highest worked diligently to provide the community baseball program possible. The City Park system has`29 y caliber ball diamonds which are used parks that have baseball/softfor high schools, junior _ sponsored leagues, private leagues, city 9 high schools and the general public. The Parks Department would like to be able to provide all of its ball diamonds with a batting cage, but is unable to due to lack of funds. This: equipment, donated by Miami Dade Community College, Wolfson Campus, will be utilized by the department in its baseball programs.
