CIC tt rr Mr. Xavier Suarez Mayor, City of Miami 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, Florida 33133 Dear Mayor Suarez: The American Legion Post 346 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10212 are in the process of organizing and conducting a Parade 'to pa,v tribute to our fallen comrades, Prisoners of Wars and Missing in Actions on this Memorial Day -May 29, 1989. Furthermore, we will take this opportunity to stress our support of the Freedom Fighters of the World and provide the opportunity to other organizations in the community to express their support for our Veterans. We ask you and the Commissioners to grant the approval to conduct this parade. The parade route is described on the attached map. The parade assembly area will be south of 8th Street and between 4th and 6th Avenue at 9:00 A.M. The parade departure line is 8th street and 4th Avenue at 10.00 A.M. and will march on 8th street to 12nd avenue S.W. On 12th Avenue the marching units will turn South until 16th Street. At the end of the parade (11.45 A.M.), a religious service will be conducted on the ground of St Peter & Paul School. We are requesting that the City provide the Police, Firefighters and other required services for the parade. lie will pay the public insurance cost. We would like to be advised in time When the request_ will be brought for discussion. The banners to be carried by veterans and organizations will be without banner poles.
