RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
ACCEPT A RENTAL REHABILITATION PROGRAM GRAft
FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND UR9X4
DEVELOPMENT (HUD) FOR $500,000 OF ADDITIONAL
RENTAL REHABILITATION GRANT PROGRAM FUNDS TO
INCREASE THE SUPPLY OF AFFORDABLE, STANDARD
HOUSING FOR LOWER INCOME FAMILIES; AND
FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE THE NECESSARY CONTRACTS AND AGREEMENTS
WIETH THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN
DEVELOPMENT, SUBJECT TO APPLICABLE CITY CODE PROVI-
SIONS.
WHEREAS, Section 17 of the United States Housing Act of 1937
establishes a program known as the Rental Rehabilitation Program
to increase the supply of affordable, standard housing for lower
income families; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami is experiencing a severe rental
housing shortage affordable to lower income families; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of the City's good performance in

committing all of the funds originally approved under the

previous Rental Rehabilitation Program Grant, the U.S. Department

of Housing and Urban Development has allocated $500,000 of
additional funds to the City of Miami;

NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section•1. The City Manager, as chief administrative
officer for the City of Miami, is hereby authorized to accept the

Rental Rehabilitation Program Grant from the U.S. Department of

Housing and Urban Development for $500,000.

Section 2. The City Manager is further authorized to
execute the required contract and agreements to implement the

program, subject to applicable City Code provisions.

RECOMMENDATION:

BACKGROUND:
The Housing Conservation and Development Agency recommends that
the CityCommission authorize the City Manager to:

Rehabilitation Grant Program funds by the U.S.. Department.'
Housing and Urban Development. This bonus allocation is grant±ad

Rental Rehabilitation Program Grant: financing will be Mad*
