A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT A RENTAL REHABILITATION PROGRAM GRAft FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND UR9X4 DEVELOPMENT (HUD) FOR $500,000 OF ADDITIONAL RENTAL REHABILITATION GRANT PROGRAM FUNDS TO INCREASE THE SUPPLY OF AFFORDABLE, STANDARD HOUSING FOR LOWER INCOME FAMILIES; AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY CONTRACTS AND AGREEMENTS WIETH THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT, SUBJECT TO APPLICABLE CITY CODE PROVI- SIONS. WHEREAS, Section 17 of the United States Housing Act of 1937 establishes a program known as the Rental Rehabilitation Program to increase the supply of affordable, standard housing for lower income families; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami is experiencing a severe rental housing shortage affordable to lower income families; and WHEREAS, in recognition of the City's good performance in - committing all of the funds originally approved under the ' ' 1 previous Rental Rehabilitation Program Grant, the U.S. Department 1 _ ! of Housing and Urban Development has allocated $500,000 of additional funds to the City of Miami; = NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section•1. The City Manager, as chief administrative officer for the City of Miami, is hereby authorized to accept the i Rental Rehabilitation Program Grant from the U.S. Department of ?'.
