RESOLUTION NO -
A. RESOLUTION .AMENDING SECTIONS 1, 4 AND 5 OF
RESOLUTION NO. 88-357, ADOPTED APRIL 14, 1988,
CONCERNING THE 1989 CARNAVAL MIAMI 8-K RUN AND
BIKE DASH TO BE CONDUCTED BY THE KIWANIS CLUB
OF LITTLE HAVANA ON MARCH 11, 1989, THEREBY
CHANGING THE LOCATION OF THE SAID EVENTS FROM
SOUTHWEST EIGHTH STREET TO BAYFRONT PARK AND
DOWNTOWN MIAMI AND RELAXING THE TIME
LIMITATION ON FIREWORKS DISPLAY IN DOWNTOWN
MIAMI.
WHEREAS, the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana has changed the
location of the 1989 Carnaval Miami Bike Race and 8-K Run from
the area of S.W. Eighth Street to Bayfront Park and Downtown
Miami; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 88-357, adopted April 14, 1988,
should be amended to reflect the change in street closures;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. Resolution No. 88-357, adopted April 14, 1988,
is hereby amended in the following particulars: -
" Section 1. In order to effectuate safe .passage
and establish a temporary pedestrian mall during
Carnaval Miami Paseo on March 5, 1989; during Calle
Ocho 8-K Run on March i-g, 11, 1989, Carnaval Miami:Bike

Dash on March 11, 1989 and Calle Ocho Open House
Festival on March 12, 1989, the following streets are
hereby closed to through vehicular traffic during the
dates and hours specified below:

Sunday, March 5, 1989 from 10:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M.:

West Flagler Street from Twelfth Avenue to Twenty-
second Avenue.
Southwest First Street from Southwest Twelfth Avenue
to Southwest Twenty-second Avenue.

Underscored words and/or figures shall be added. The
remaining provisions are now in effect and remain unchanged.

Southwest Seventh Street from Southwest Fifth Avenue
to Beacom Boulevard.
Beacom Boulevard from Southwest Eighth Street to
Southwest Seventh Street.
Included in the herein closure are all streets,
avenues, alleys, ways and thoroughfares which
intersect the enumerated areas delineated in this
Section.
Section 4. Upon the issuance of a temporary
permit by the Florida Department of Business
Regulation, Division of Alcoholic Beverages and
Tobacco, to sell beer and wine pursuant to City
Code 54-12.1, the request of the Kiwanis Club of
Little Havana to sell beer and wine in soft
containers for -4) three (3) one -day periods in
connection with Carnaval Miami Paseo scheduled for
March 5, 1989, Calle Ocho 8K Run, Carnaval Miami
Bike Dash and Calle Ocho Open House Festival
scheduled for March 44 11 and 12, 1989
respectively, is hereby granted, subject to the
issuance of all permits required by law.
Section 5. The time limitations on the display
of fireworks are hereby relaxed to allow the staging
of pyrotechnic display until 12:00 midnight on
Saturday, March 4, 1989, at the Orange Bowl for
Carnaval Night eR4 on Saturday, March
11, 1989 in
the Vizcaya area in connection with
a sponsors Il
party, and on March 11, 1989, in the Downtown area,
subject to the issuance of appropriate
permits from
the Department of Fire, Rescue and Inspection`
Services."

Section 2. This Resolution shall
become effective r
immediately upon its adoption pursuant to law. ._
