HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-89-02563/3/89 RESOLUTION NO. 89-256 A RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE WALK AMERICA 1989 TO BE CONDUCTED BY THE MARCH OF DIMES BIRTH DEFECTS FOUNDATION ON APRIL 11 1989: AUTHORIZING THE CLOSURE OF DESIGNATED STREETS TO THROUGH VEHICULAR TRAFFIC, ESTABLISHING A TEMPORARY PEDESTRIAN MALL SUBJECT TO THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS BY THE DEPARTMENTS OF POLICE AND FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION SERVICES; FURTHER WAIVING THE RENTAL FEE OF THE PEACOCK, MYERS AND MERRY CHRISTMAS PARKS, _ THE GLASS HOUSE, AND THE RENTAL EQUIPMENT OF THE SNOWMOBILE, PORTABLE STAGE AND PUBLIC _- ADDRESS SYSTEM; STIPULATING THAT THE k ORGANIZATION WILL CLEAN UP MYERS AND MERRY A CHRISTMAS PARKS, AND WILL PAY FOR THE CLEANING OF PEACOCK PARK, INCLUDING THE COST OF LABOR FEES FOR SAID PARK; FURTHER CONDITIONED UPON THE REQUIREMENTS THAT THE CITY WILL BE INSURED AGAINST ANY POTENTIAL LIABILITY AND UPON ORGANIZER PAYING FOR ALL NECESSARY COSTS OF CITY SERVICES. - BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. In order to effectuate safe passage during the Walk America 1989, to be conducted by the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation, the following streets are hereby closed to through vehicular traffic between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., as directed by the Police Department, on April 1, 1989: L 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.: South Bayshore Drive from Southwest twenty-seven Ave nue to McFarlane. Department of Police is to be issued upon full approval of the Chief of Police after giving all due consideration to the safety and traffic needs of residents, businesses, and religious institutions in the area for entering and crossing through said arterials and upon the favorable exercise of the City Mana0arie judgement predicated upon all factors set forth herein. Section 3. Pursuant to the provision of City Code Section _ 39-13, all retail peddlers' occupational licenses issued under the provisions of Chapter 31 of the City Code, as amended, will not be valid during the hours of 7:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. on April 1, 1989 on the above designated streets and on all intersecting .i streets for two blocks in all directions. Section 4. The waiver of the rental fee of the Peacock, Myers, Merry Christmas Parks and the Glass House, and the rental equipment of the showmobile, portable stage and public address system is,hereby authorized and approved. - Section 5. The organizers are hereby directed to cl'ean'' Myers and Merry Christmas Parks and to pay for cleanup of,; Peacock Park,including the -cost -of labor 'fees for the said park. 3.
