WATER CONSERVATION FUND THROUGH THE FLORIDA
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES FOR CAPITAL
IMPROVEMENTS TO LUMMUS PARK; ALLOCATING FUNDS
IN THE AMOUNT OF $100,000 FROM THE CAPITAL
IMPROVEMENT PROJECT ENTITLED "LUMMUS PARK
REDEVELOPMENT - PHASE I" PROJECT NO. 331042,

GRANT FOR A TOTAL GRANT PROJECT COST OF
l $200,000; DESIGNATING THE DIRECTOR OF THE
-�� DEPARTMENT OF PARKS, RECREATION AND PUBLIC
Ij FACILITIES, OR DESIGNEE THEREOF, AS THE
OFFICIAL LIAISON AGENT FOR SAID GRANT
_ PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks, Recreation and Public
Facilities, with the Departments of Planning and Public works,
has prepared a grant application for the redevelopment of Lummus
Park under the Federal Land and Water Conservation Fund Program
administered by the Florida Department of Natural Resources; and
WHEREAS, said application requests funds in the amount of
$100,000 to be matched on- a 50/50 basis from local (City) fundst
for a total grant project of-$200,000; and
WHEREAS, funds for the City's required match are available
in the Capital Improvement Project "Lummus Park Redevelopment
Phase I", Project No. 331042, from Community Development Block
Grant sources; and
WHEREAS, the grant project will include the construction and
installation of picnic shelters and tables, the renovation of
shuffleboard courts, construction of a new activity plaza,
landscaping, and design work; and

WHEREAS, the City of Miami has adopted ordinance No, i0544
on February 9, 1989 establishing the "Miami Neighborhood
Comprehensive Plan 1989=2000" pursuant' to the Local Governmefft
r.
Comprehensive Planning Act of 1975 and that all segments of the
public were offered an opportunity to participate in the planning
p:
process leading to said adoption; and
WHEREAS, said Comprehensive Plan contains an element
entitled "Park, Recreation and Open Space" which specifically
calls for the redevelopment of Lummus Park; and
WHEREAS, the City will continue an on -going program of

public participation in the planning and selection of recreation

and open space projects through various agencies and activities,
including the Park Advisory Board and Community Development Block

Grant program; and
WHEREAS, it is a requirement of the application that this
Resolution be adopted and included in the City's application;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:

Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
preamble to this Resolution are herby approved, confirmed and

adopted by reference thereto and included herein as if fully set

forth in this Section. -
Section 2. The City's application for grant funding in the
amount of $100,000 ' from the Federal Land and Water Conservation
Fund through the Florida Department of Natural Resources for

capital improvements to Lummus Park is hereby authorized and
approved.
Section 3. Funds in the amount of $100,000 are hereby
allocated from the Capital Improvement Project entitled "Lummus,
