HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-89-0283kS a ry 3_ t. . 3 y�Y J-99-413 3/23/89 • x TPf�� RESOLUTION N0.9-283 , A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION REQUESTING THE DADE COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH TRUST TO RECOGNIZE THE FACT THAT IT IS NOT MEETING THE HEALTH CARE NEEDS OF THE LITTLE HAITI COMMUNITY AND RECOMMENDING TO THE DADE COUNTY COMMISSION THAT ADEQUATE FUNDING BE MADE AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC HEALTH TRUST SO THAT IT MAY SATISFY THOSE NEEDS; FURTHER INSTRUCTING THE CITY'S LOBBYISTS IN TALLAHASSEE TO ENDEAVOR TO HAVE ADDITIONAL LANGUAGE INSERTED IN ANY STATE LEGISLATION ADOPTED IN CONNECTION WITH JACKSON MEMORIAL HOSPITAL AND THE DADE COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH TRUST WHICH LANGUAGE WOULD REQUIRE THAT JACKSON MEMORIAL HOSPITAL SERVICE THE AREA COMPRISING LITTLE HAITI AND EXTENDING TO OVERTOWN AS ONE OF ITS PRIORITY TARGETED AREAS FOR THE DELIVERY OF HEALTH CARE TO _ SERVICE INDIGENT RESIDENTS OF THE AREA. - BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The Dade County Public Health Trust is hereby requested to recognize the fact that it is not meeting the health - —i� care needs of the Little Haiti community. Section 2. It is hereby recommended that the Dade County _ Commission make adequate funding available to the Public Health Trust so that it may satisfy the health care needs of the Little- 4 Haiti community. ^ Section 3. The City's lobbyists in Tallahassee are �k hereby instructed to endeavor to have additional language inserted in any state legislation adopted in connection. with A Jackson Memorial Hospital and the Dade County Public Health Trust r which language would require that Jackson Memorial Hospital service the area comprising Little Haiti and extending :to ' Overtown as one of its priority targeted areas for the delivery, r = of health care to service indigent residents of the area. rs } Section 4.
