FOR THE FURNISHING OF AN AIR FILTRATION SYSTEM FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF POLICE AT A TOTAL PROPOSED COST OF $8,350.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 312015 ACCOUNT CODE NO. 299401-840; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS EQUIPMENT. WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received February 8, 1989 for the furnishing of an Air Filtration System to the Department of Police; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 22 potential suppliers and four (4) bids were received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase will be available from the Capital Improvement Project No. 312015 Account Code No. 299401- 840; and WHEREAS, this equipment will be used by the Department of Police for the purpose of purifying the air in the Communications Unit; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Police recommend that the bid received from Argos International, Inc. be accepted as the lowest responsible and responsive bid; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The February 8, 1989 bid of Argos International, Inc. for th,e furnishing of an Air Filtration System to the Department of Police at total proposed cost of $€3,350.00 is hereby accepted with funds therefor hereby allocated from the Capital Improvement Project No. 312015 Account Code No. 299401- 840 . The City Manager is hereby authorized to instruct the Chief Procurement Officer to issue a Purchase Order for this equipment. Section 3. Odi FROM REFERENCES: City Manager ENCLOSURES: RECOMMENDATION: It is respectfully recommended that an award be made and a resolution be passed accepting the most responsive bid of Argos International, Inc., in the amount of $8,350, for the furnishing and installation of an Air Filtration System in the Communications Unit of the Miami Police Department. BACKGROUND: The Police Department has analyzed the bids received on February 8, 1989, for the furnishing and installation of an air filtration system for the Communications Unit. The Department has found the bid of Argos International, Inc., to be the most responsive bidder. On January 20, 1989, invitations for sealed bids were sent to prospective vendors. Dids were opened on February 3, 1989, with four (4) vendors subi-ititting bids and two ( 2 ) vendors subi-iiitting "no bids,". The Department of Police will utilize the air filtration system to assist in purifying the air in the Communications Unit where poor ventilation is causing an unhealthy situation. Ms. Adrienne MacBeth was contacted reference to Minority Participation and she concurs with the Department's recommendation. It is, therefore, recommended that the award of bid be made to Argos International,, Inc. The Department's specifications have been met, and the funding source will be the Capital Improvement Project, Number 312015, Index Code 299401-840.
