Dear Mr. Odio,
I have been designated as spokesperson for an Ad -Hoc group
of interested individuals and organizations that are
extremely concerned at the apparent lack of action to date
by the Miami Police Department in relocating the so called
"temporary" auto pound located directly under 1 -95 in
Overtown.
The auto pound is an environmental eyesore and greatly
contributes to the overall blight in our neighborhood.
Moreover, it is greatly disturbing to learn that the City
Commission has, in fact, previously directed the Police
Department to implement the auto pound's relocation.
= We fully empathize with the Police Department's budgetary
constraints as well as the problems involved in the
relocation of a facility of this type. Nevertheless, the
auto pound should not be allowed to remain given the extent
of redevelopment that has occurred to date, as well as all
that yet is to be undertaken.
On behalf of the Ad -Hoc committee, I am requesting the
opportunity to make a personal appearance at the earliest
convenient City Commission meeting. In the interim, we
shall be investigating alternative sites and potential
sources of funds to offset the expenses in relocating the
facility.
Thank you for your attention in this matter.
Si cerely,
/
