A RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE 1989 BUDWEISER
UNLIMITED HYDROPLANE REGATTA TO BE CONDUCTED
BY THE CITY JUNE 2-41 1989 AT THE MIAMI
MARINE STADIUM, MORE PARTICULARLY: A)
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN
AGREEMENT, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY
ATTORNEY, BETWEEN THE CITY OF MIAMI AND
ANHEUSER-BUSCH, INC. FOR SPONSORSHIP -
ASSISTANCE FOR SAID EVENT; B) AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT, IN
A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY,
BETWEEN THE CITY OF MIAMI AND VOLUME
SERVICES, INC. FOR THE OPERATION OF
CONCESSIONS DURING SAID EVENT; C)
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ESTABLISH A -
CONCESSIONS FEE OF $1,500 TO BE CHARGED EACH
CONCESSIONAIRE SELLING NOVELTY MERCHANDISE
RELATING TO HYDROPLANES COMPETING IN SAID -
EVENT; D) AUTHORIZING THE PROVISION OF
HOSPITALITY TENT SPACES BY THE CITY ON THE
GROUNDS OF SAID STADIUM ON A FIRST -COME,
�j FIRST -SERVE BASIS TO INTERESTED PARTIES AT A -
COST OF $5,000 PER TENT SPACE; E)
AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS FOR THE -
_ USE OF SAID TENT SPACES; F) AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE WITH INTERESTED
PARTIES FOR THE RIGHT TO PROMOTE ITS PRODUCTS
AT SAID EVENT FOR A FEE COMPARABLE TO THOSE

AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ISSUE UP TO
I 850 COMPLEMENTARY TICKETS, EXCLUSIVE OF
AUTHORIZED MEDIA REPRESENTATIVES,' TO: SAID
EVENT FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROMOTING THE CITY
OF MIAMI, ITS FACILITIES AND EVENTS; H)
FURTHER AUTHORIZING PAYMENT TO FLORIDA
_ INBOARD RACING CLUB FOR THE PROVISION OF
CRANES AND A SALVAGE BOAT NEEDED FOR SAID
-EVENT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $10,700`.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami produced 19th Annual Budweiser
Unlimited Hydroplane Regatta will be held June 2, 3 and 4,-1989
at the Marine Stadium; and
.WHEREAS, the customary sponsorship agreement between the

with several changes from prior years as follows: 1) 3f said

WHEREAS, Volume services Inc. has agreed to manage the
concessions for said event and compensate the City at the same
42.1% rate it bid on the Orange Bowl Stadium and the Bobby Madura
Miami Baseball Stadium.t and
WHEREAS, sellers of novelty merchandise relating to the
hydroplanes competing in said event will be charged a fee of
$1,500; and
WHEREAS, several corporations have expressed interest in
purchasing the rights to hospitality tent spaces at the Marine
Stadium area at said event; and =
WHEREAS, a rate of $5,000 will be charged for each 40 foot
by 60 foot tent space on a first -come, first -serve basis;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
={ OF MIAMI, FLORIDAt
WWI Section 1. The recitals contained in the Preamble to
this Resolution are hereby incorporated by reference thereto and
adopted as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby, authorized to
execute an agreement, in a form acceptable 'to the City.Attorney,
between the City of Miami and Anheuser-Busch, Inc. for
sponsorship assistance for the 1989 Budweiser Unlimited. rs`

HydroplaneRegatta to be. conducted June 2-4, 1989 at the Marine -
Stadium.
Section 3.' The City Manager is hereby authorized' to
execute an agreement, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney,
between the City of Miami and Volume Services, Inc. for the
operation of concessions during said event.

Section 4. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
establish a concessions fee of $1,500 to be charged each
concessionare selling novelty merchandise - relating to
hydroplanes competing in said event.

Section 6. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
issue permits for the use of said tent spaces.

Section 16 The City Manager is hereby authorized to
negotiate with interested parties for the right to promote its

products at said event for a fee comparable to those fees paid at
other race sites.
Section 8. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
issue up to 850 complementary tickets, exclusive of authorized
media representatives, for the purpose of promoting the City of
Miami, its facilities and events.
Section 9. The City Manager is hereby authorized to make
payment to the Florida Inboard Racing Club for the provision of
cranes and a salvage boat needed for said event in an amount not
to exceed $10,700.
Section 10. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption pursuant to law.
