Walker Executive Director W) Pursuant a meeting with Mayor Suarez office on April 4, regarding our _ low income housing complex in the City of Miami resulted in this scommunication requesting to be included on �f q g your April 27th Agenda to im!appear before the Board of City Commissioners regarding waving the S fees on the unoccupied units in the above referenced project due to all circumstances beyond our control. Please know that this development "I consist of 34 townunits located within the City of Miami, developed by j` Home & Housing of Dade, Inc. profit community corp organization (CDC). The CDC is funding entirely through Dade County Office of Community & Economic Development. This development has been funding through Dade County's Office of Community & Economic Development Float financing; t in addition, we have. -received marketing monies through the City of s Miami.•Some of the interstructure/predevelopment cost were jointly sponsored via Dade County HUD and City of Miami. We have been unable to sell these development due to it's high crime location (predominant drug environment). We have therefore carried this project; due to the very slow sale and cannot at this time pay waste fees, taxed this project. We hereby, request an appearance to discuss the possibility of deferin,g fees until such time as the project become self supporting. I have,enclosed a back ground fact sheet on Home & Housing of Dade, Inc. and I am available for additional information if you deem same is necessary. Home & Housing of Dade, Inc. is a non-profit corporation, which was formed as the Housing Component of the Dade County Model City Program in 1970. Formerly known as The Model City Development Corporation, - the major objective of this community -based organization is to provide decent, affordable homes for the elderly, handicapped and -low to moderate income residents. To this end, the Corporation has worked with both the private and public sector in the development, management and marketing of residential properties. The agency's board.of directors is made upprimarily of local residents, reflecting the racial, ethnic, economic and balanced views, of the total community. Their combined professional experience include education, politics, building construction, finance, government and law.
