RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION APPOINTING CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS
TO SERVE AS MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION ON THE
STATUS OF WOMEN.
WHEREAS, at its March 3, 1989 meeting, the City Commission
adopted Resolution No. 89-217 providing for three year terms of
office for members of the Commission on the Status Women ("COSW")
while enlarging the membership to twenty-five members; and
WHEREAS, at its April 13, 1989 meeting, the City Commission
adopted Resolution No. 89-369 confirming the appointments of
fifteen individuals as members of the COSW who were previously
selected and approved for membership by the City Commission; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate that the herein Resolution
formally appoint additional individuals who are among those
individuals who have been recommended for membership by those
fifteen members serving on said COSW, each to serve for the terms
of office as designated herein; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The following individuals are hereby
appointed as members of The Commission On The Status Of Women to
serve three-year terms of office from the date hereof which terms
shall expire June 7, 1992:

Section 2. The provisions of any existing City
Commission directive limiting the number of years of membership
service on City boards and committees shall not be applicable to
the COSW.

immediately upon its adoption pursuant to law.

it is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the
Attached Resolution appointing additional individuals to serve on
the Commission of the Status of women (COSW).

The Commi.Rsion On The Status or' women (COSw) was established by
Resolution No. 73-566 (July 26, 1973) and its By -Laws adopted by
Resolution No. 74-1373, (December 17, 1974). The By -Laws were
amended on April. 27, 1978 by Resolution No. 78-271. Resolution
No. 89-217, adopted March 3, 1989, amended the By-laws and
increased the membership from 20 to 25 persons.
On April 13, 1989, .the City Commission adopted .Resoltiti.on
No. 89-369 which confirmed and appointed fifteen individuals to
tho COSW; h6wever, ten vacancies remain.
Zt should be noted that recommendations have not been made for
which two (2) vacancies remain to be filled and unless the City
Commission wishes to make the appointments at its June 7, 1992
meeting, the COSW will make its recommendations for those two
positions at a future date.
