- E_______ _TION:
It is respectfully recommended that a resolution be passed for
the purchase of exercise equipment and the renovation of the
police department gymnasium, as part of a Police Wellness
Program, at a total cost of approximately $85,000. Funding is to
be from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project No. 690001.
F+ BACKGROUND:
The Miami Police Department is concerned with the health and
welfare of its personnel. In an effort to insure that the police
department's personnel remain healthy, a gymnasium was installed
on the premises at the time the police department was
constructed. The equipment currently being utilized in the
gymnasium is outdated and the gymnasium itself is in need of
repair. In an effort to reduce injuries caused by individuals
who are not in good physical condition the police department is
instituting a Police Wellness Program. This program is aimed at _
improving personnel both physically and mentally.
It is, therefore, recommended that the Resolution authorizing the
purchase of exercise equipment and the renovation of the police
department gymnasium, as part of a Police Wellness Program, at a
total cost of approximately $85,000, funding to be from the Law
Enforcement Trust Fund, Project No. 690001, Index Code 290904-
996; be approved.
